If there's one thing that modern Call of Duty is known for, aside from the sheer number of cosmetics featuring characters that are not military-based, it's the massive file sizes, largely thanks to COD HQ, the proprietary game launcher and some rather hefty needs for things like Warzone.
However, it appears that those issues might be changing for the better, with a reported massive decrease that should let gamers have way more hard drive space than they used to have.
As first spotted by GamesRadar, an update for Call of Duty on PlayStation 5 is reducing the file size from 126 GB to just 25 GB, a massive savings of 101 GB. Elsewhere, the PlayStation 4 version of the franchise will see a similar reduction, albeit not nearly as large.
What's more, according to PlayStation Game Size, Black Ops 6's multiplayer pack will become completely optional for gamers.
One thing GamesRadar pointed out, via another gamer, is that Battlefield 6's recommended install sizes may have had an impact on things. While that part isn't confirmed, there is a nice little coincidence going on to make one think otherwise.
