A lot went wrong with Dragon Age: The Veilguard, the desperate attempt from BioWare to salvage a half-decent game from the wreckage of a misguided live-service EA mandate, but its lasting legacy might just be that it killed the series for good.
Yet, even with a tarnished reputation weighing it down, it's thriving on Game Pass. As reported by True Achievements, the game has seen a 1,525.88 percent increase in players since launching on the platform just last week, slotting it comfortably in Xbox's top 50 most-played games.
To put that into perspective, before launching on the service, Dragon Age: The Veilguard hadn't even broken the top 400 most-played Xbox games. Now, it's outpacing Sea of Thieves, Cyberpunk 2077, and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.
The Veilguard is also available via EA Play, so if you want to try it out on Steam, it'll only set you back £5.99.
Putting aside the tumultuous development and glaring problems with the game, its slick action combat is BioWare at its best, and there are some incredible moments peppered throughout what is otherwise a fairly forgettable experience; the Siege of Weisshaupt chief among them.
