Remedy Entertainment has announced the resignation of its chief executive officer, Tero Virtala. The ex-CEO will remain with the company until a replacement is found, so he can complete his handover duties. In the interim, Markus Mäki, one of Remedy's co-founders, will take on Virtala's former duties.
"Tero Virtala, CEO of Remedy Entertainment, and the Board of Directors of the company have mutually agreed that Tero Virtala will step down from his position as the company's CEO with immediate effect. Virtala has acted in this position since August 2016. The company will initiate a search process for a new CEO immediately. Virtala will continue at the service of the company during an agreed transition period to support the handover of CEO duties," reads Remedy's brief announcement.
Remedy is in an interesting position because Alan Wake 2, while successful, was very expensive to produce. The 2023 hit only became profitable a year after release, which suggests Remedy didn't make as much profit as the game probably deserved.
