Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles is a fantastic way to either play or replay one of gaming history's greatest strategy RPGs on modern hardware, and for the most part, I have nothing but good to say about it. Alas, there is one big caveat: The Ivalice Chronicles lacks much of the exclusive content that made FFT's 2007 PSP port, The War of the Lions, so unique.

That means no Balthier and Luso cameos, no continuation of Beowulf and Reis' unfinished-feeling side quest storyline, no multiplayer mode, and - indeed - no Dark Knight and Onion Knight job classes. To be sure, The Ivalice Chronicles brings with it plenty of its own reasons for worthiness, but some of us will always be a bit bummed about that. And a handful of us (certainly not myself) are technically talented enough to do something about it.

Well, to do something about some of it, in any case. Plenty of WOTL's content has been located in very early states within The Ivalice Chronicles, and the ever-faithful FFT modding community is using this as partial impetus to restore the PlayStation Portable iteration's best parts.
