MindsEye's launch was a mess, to put it lightly. A dull, broken slog that ultimately caused mass layoffs at developer Build a Rocket Boy. However, the Edinburgh-based developer headed up by a former Grand Theft Auto producer hasn't given up on MindsEye yet, as the studio has just released a patch for the game.
MindsEye is now leveraging a system called Arcadia, which is described as a "Build a Rocket Boy's powerful, no-code creation tool." The whole thing is reminiscent of Everywhere, a user-generated MMO the studio has been working on for over eight years.
"You'll notice Arcadia has made its return. Play.MindsEye is now Arcadia, and Build.MindsEye is now Build.Arcadia on PC. Arcadia now functions like a streaming service, meaning you'll need an internet connection to play, while the main campaign and side missions remain fully playable offline across all platforms," the update reads.
The introduction of Arcadia brings several new mini-games to MindsEye. There's Going Haywire, a "fast-paced arcade shooter" that's apparently "filled with chaotic Halloween energy." There's also Cruise Control, a third-person race across Redrock's rooftops, a drone race called Free Bird and a wave shooter titled C.A.R.E.less Survival.
