Assassin's Creed Shadows will only have one expansion, as Ubisoft scraps plans for a second DLC. This is despite Ubisoft saying that sales have been strong, and this second expansion was planned prior to Shadows' launch.
There is still a chance that this decision could be reversed, especially considering that Assassin's Creed Mirage eventually got an expansion (funded by the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund) two years after launch, but don't expect anything to launch next year.
As spotted by IGN, associate game director Simon Lemay-Comtois confirmed this in an interview with YouTuber JorRaptor.
"As of now, at this moment for Year Two, there is no expansion on the size of Awaji that is planned," Lemay Comtois says. "We're still working on content for post-launch and supporting it, but it's not a full-on DLC the way a season pass would have had in the previous year."
He continues, explaining what we can expect from Ubisoft in terms of Shadows support. "There's learning from Year One we can apply to Year Two," he says. "Any content we want to do in Year Two will probably be more sparse, not a drip-feed... but chunkier updates that shake things up...
