Once Human is a popular third-person survival game developed by Starry Studio, a subsidiary of Chinese conglomerate NetEase. The post-apocalyptic romp was recently accused of plagiarising No Man's Sky.
Koyonaku writes, "A cosmetic item in Once Human looks extremely similar to No Man's Sky's Base Teleport Module — and it's being sold as a high-tier lootbox reward. Is this acceptable?" in a Reddit thread on the topic.
The similarities between Once Human's cosmetic item and the base module in No Man's Sky are obvious. The No Man's Sky version is rust-coloured, while the Once Human version has a colour scheme reminiscent of a portal gun. The shape of the two assets is extremely similar, right down to a stabilisation bar on one side of the object.
This fracas reached the attention of Hello Games founder Sean Murray, who chimed in with a humorous comment: "Joke's on them, we forgot to LOD [level of detail] those rivets," he wrote.
