The biggest ongoing story in games this week is the provenance of the viral demonic statue that The Game Awards founder Geoff Keighley teased in a cryptic tweet. The statue comprises a group of undead surrounding a rune, with seven tendrils extruding from the centre that light up red at night.

The gaming community quickly predicted every famous series that features undead demons. An upcoming expansion for Diablo 4 was debunked by Bloomberg's Jason Schreier, as was The Elder Scrolls 6, and a new God of War. However, Schreier did tease that the reveal was actually cool and people would be excited about the outcome, which suggests it isn't a half-baked scheme from a wealthy debut studio.
