For reasons that I am sure are only known by Square Enix, Final Fantasy 7 was just released again on Steam. Yes, it was already on Steam. No, you can't buy that version anymore (although you can access it if you had already purchased it). Instead, you have this shiny new version.

The only problem is that this re-release is, according to most fans, absolutely terrible. Most of the complaints centre around how the game hasn't been adjusted to account for the increased FPS, leading to animation sync issues and some noticeable problems in combat. Needless to say, fans expect an update to fix these issues - and a team of modders are pledging to do just that, if Square Enix lets them.

Tsunamods is a team of modders who create their own improvements for classic Final Fantasy games. As explained in the tweet directed at Square Enix, this team represents multiple disciplines, allowing for improvements across the entire game, not just in its performance.
