U.S Customs Destroys Extremely Rare Japanese Demo Disc, Breaking The Buyer's Heart In The Process

The collection of rare physical media is one of the most important methods of media preservation in a world where actually possessing something is becoming rarer, and art is becoming less permeable than ever.

Keripo—a fan of the work of Japanese independent publishing company Type-Moon—recently sourced an original floppy disk of the demo for Tsukihime, one of just 50 copies in existence.

Yet, when the copy arrived, Keripo was met with a grisly sight. A single look at the package is enough to instil worry as the beaten cardboard is emblazoned with, "Opened and Resealed By Customs."

Like a horror movie, the dread sets in as Keripo continues to unseal the package. An understandable, "What the f**k?" comes from the collector as they begin to realise just how destroyed the contents of the package are.

For some reason, U.S. Customs (or an agent working for DHL) completely tore apart the floppy disk. The disk is in pieces, with the physical material twisted and torn. It's as if someone took a knife to the ultra-rare demo disk.
