Nintendo Directs tend to come in different shapes and sizes. There are the big first-party ones where we're told things like what Mario and Zelda are up to, Partner Showcases like the one last month during which we were given another look at Pragmata, along with a better look at Orbitals, and then there's the Indie World Showcase, which is what we're here for today.
As the name implies, an Indie World Showcase focuses on nothing but games from independent studios. Whether a game is truly an indie or not is a hotly-debated topic. Nintendo tends to stick to a more traditional definition, so while I wouldn't rule out seeing something big show up today, I'd temper those expectations.
This is only the second Indie World Showcase Nintendo has held since it launched the Switch 2, and the first aired only a little more than a month after its new console launched. I'd assume a few more independent studios have something to show for the Switch 2 at this stage, and I'm almost certain we'll see a lot of indie games coming to the Switch even though it's technically a last-gen console now, so let's get into it...
