One of the most praised aspects of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is the game's writing, which earned the creative team the 'Best Narrative' award at last year's Game Awards, along with the plethora of other awards the game has received.

Although the turn-based combat, exploration and aesthetic of Clair Obscur were also hugely praised, the game's narrative and characters were a particular highlight in a game full of them.

Jennifer Svedberg-Yen, narrative director of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, recently spoke to GamesRadar+ about generative artificial intelligence, a development that's beginning to worry creatives as some companies, such as Activision, are pivoting to AI generation instead of using human-created art.

"It is essentially multiple regressions with linear algebra and matrices and lots of data, which tickled my mathematical mind," Svedberg-Yen begins. "But from a writing perspective, it is not really something that I find useful in my personal work. It's not something that is part of my workflow."
