Palworld developer Pocketpair and Nintendo have been in a legal battle for a while, thanks to the former looking a lot like Pokemon. Despite the clear similarities, the only real change Palworld was forced to make was changing its Pal Sphere summoning system to look less like Pokemon's Poke Balls. Other than that, 'Pokemon with guns' has survived and thrived.
With this precedent being set, another developer called PocketGame decided to launch its own clone called Pickmon, further ripping off designs from both games, and also from Final Fantasy 14, Overwatch, and even fan art. The game tried to distance itself from these allegations by changing its original name to Pickmos, but that's evidently not enough, as its publisher has pulled the game from Steam.
"Hello players, this is the publisher, Networkgo. We’ve heard your feedback regarding the removal of our Steam store page and want to clear things up. Networkgo has officially intervened in the development of PocketGame," said a statement by publisher Networkgo on Twitter. "We will be supervising the Pickmos team from a player’s perspective to ensure the game keeps getting better. Thank you for your support."
When asked about when and if the game will return...
