Time travel is a ginormous part of life sim games. For as long as Animal Crossing has existed, players have changed the date and time on their consoles to bypass the gated content, and more recently, Pokemon Pokopia players have found similar tricks work to complete buildings immediately. It's not something advertised, but it works.
Step forward Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream, Nintendo's latest Mii-focused life sim, released yesterday for the Nintendo Switch and Switch 2. It's a game that you feel would be ripe for the time travel pickings, but, put simply, it's not. Nintendo has put barriers in place to ensure that players don't get ahead of themselves by using time travel to gain an unfair leg up.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons has minimal penalties for players who skip time. Sure, your turnips might rot (which can be a big issue if you have hundreds of them), and you might get a few additional weeds on your island, but that's all. Pokopia's penalties are even less severe, with effectively zero unless you count missing stamps as one. Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream, however, can hamper some progress if you do.
First pointed out by the Tomodachi Plaza...
