Charlie Cox Says Video Game Acting Wasn't As Easy As He Expected

Charlie Cox didn't exactly find video game voice acting as easy as he'd anticipated.

That's not to say he thought it was a joke. Not at all. More so, all the ADR he's done for "normal" acting roles was expected to prepare him in spades for a full-on voice-acting gig like the one he (beautifully) performed in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. The thing is, it's not the same. Voice acting is very much its own craft, and, speaking with TheGamer's own Rhiannon Bevan at the 2026 BAFTA Awards, the renowned industry vet happily admitted to some real growing pains.

"I've spoken to a few actors who have done the trajectory of TV/film/theatre first, and then video games," Rhiannon told Charlie Cox on the BAFTA red carpet. That, for the record, is precisely what's occurred to Cox himself. "Time and time again, [the actors] have compared it to theatre. I was wondering what you would compare it to."

"Well, it's like doing ADR for a TV show, or a film. But it is a different skillset. I think I probably assumed it would be quite easy for me, because I'm an actor, and I've done lots of ADR. But...
