New Steam Controller Officially Launches in May | TechRaptor

Valve has announced the Steam Controller release date, as well as more information about what you can expect if you decide to pick one up.

The Steam Controller was one of three new pieces of Steam-related hardware announced by Valve back in late 2025, with the other two, the Steam Frame and Steam Machine, still due to arrive sometime in the first half of 2026 (although that may well change).

As for the Controller, though, it's officially launching on May 4th, and it'll cost you $100 or your regional equivalent. That's perhaps a little more than some were expecting to pay for it, but we'll have to see whether that consternation translates into tepid sales or whether the Steam Controller finds an audience.

Valve says it's spent "a lot of time" making sure the Steam Controller is comfortable for long gaming sessions, despite the bulky look of the peripheral. It's designed to work across all Steam devices, including PCs, the Steam Deck, and the Steam Machine.

Sticks-wise, you shouldn't have to worry too much about drift, because the Steam Controller comes complete with TMR sticks, which are essentially immune to the classic drifting problem that plagues normal controller...
