Nacon—up until recently a staple of the AA publishing scene—has filed for insolvency and is now selling its intellectual property rights to other publishers to pay off its hefty debts.
Greedfall developer Spiders, which had been wholly owned by Nacon, was shuttered as part of this insolvency program. In contrast, the future of Blood Bowl developer Cyanide Studios seems to have been secured as Slitherine Software has stepped in and acquired the publishing rights to the sports parody series.
Slitherine is a prolific publisher that's no stranger to the Warhammer universe, having published Warhammer 40,000: Battlesector and Warhammer 40,000: Gladius among other titles set in Games Workshop's grimdark sci-fi world.
"We have enormous respect for what Cyanide has built over the years," Slitherine's director of publishing Marco Minoli said. "We're excited to continue working closely with the team to support and grow the series together with its passionate community."
This likely means it's full steam ahead for Cyanide to follow through on their promise to update Blood Bowl 3 to bring its rules in line with the tabletop version of the game, which will likely be accompanied by a name change to Warhammer: Blood Bowl to make the brand...
