The Elder Scrolls 6 only just entered development last year, with "early builds" being made playable for the first time in March. Considering the already lengthy 13 years between Skyrim and now, the gap between mainline games will be enormous by the time TES6 finally launches.
With such a long wait comes equally as large expectations, ones that former Starfield and Fallout developer Bruce Nesmith believes are "almost impossible" to meet.
After Starfield, I'm not sure I care about The Elder Scrolls 6 anymore.
"Elder Scrolls 6 is undoubtedly going to be an amazing game, but it's going to be compared to all the previous games that Bethesda made," Nesmith explained in an interview with Kiwi Talkz (as reported by Pure Xbox).
"The 30-year-old who is making a piece of art who's a professional artist, he can't control the expectation because he's got all this history — it's there whether he likes it or not, and the same is true for the fans who want to buy Elder Scrolls 6. Their expectations are going to be almost impossible to meet."
