Nintendo Alarmo's Motion Sensor Features Only Work With One Person In A Bed

Nintendo's new alarm clock, Alarmo, has been making waves online because fans are excited by the novelty of characters from series like Mario and The Legend of Zelda rousing them from their gentle slumber.

Like a lot of high-tech alarm clocks these days, Alarmo has motion sensor technology that predicts when your body is preparing to wake up, gently pulling you out of sleep with calming music at a moment when you're ending a sleep cycle, meaning you'll wake up feeling refreshed rather than groggy.

However, like other alarm clocks or mobile applications with this feature, the technology doesn't work correctly if there's someone else in bed with you. This confuses the motion sensor and prevents it from being able to read the movements of an individual.

This has led people, like X user devtesla, to joke that Nintendo made an alarm clock for single people. There's a 'traditional' button-mode feature for people in this situation, where you can set a wake-up time and turn it off when it rings in the morning, as usual.

Obviously, there are plenty of reasons people may be alone in a bed even if they aren't single. They may live apart...
