The Digital Fix's Reviews

Sep 16, 2019

A solid pinball game that makes full use of the Switch.

8 / 10.0 - GreedFall
Sep 15, 2019

Greedfall is a very rewarding experience. Just make sure to give it some time and get used to it's style of gameplay. It can be a bit rough around the edges but that does not detract from its deep dialogue system and good storytelling. Most RPG fans will love Greedfall, its a good game and it may even surprise a few people along the way.

7 / 10.0 - The Sinking City
Sep 12, 2019

The Sinking City is an intriguing game that is sadly let down by its many glitches and lifeless combat.

Sep 12, 2019

As random as it sounds, combining robots, pinball, and hack and slash game play absolutely works. The Creature in the Well is by no means a casual game due to its difficulty, though the slow but steady ramping of skill required and the satisfaction of completing a dungeon section are more than enough to keep almost any gamer trying to beat just one more room.

Monster Hunter World: Iceborne is more of one of the best games of this console generation, and for many, that'll be all the recommendation you'll need. It's a tough, punishing battle against incredible odds punctuated by elation and carving your vanquished nemesis into a sword with which to hunt its compatriots - and it's bloody brilliant.

With a modern take on side-scrolling beat-'em-up graphics and a fun set of gameplay ideas, this remake of the classic '80s brawler will take you down a fun nostalgia trip.

Relive epic battles from every Yu-Gi-Oh! series to date, build and customize your own decks, and challenge yourself online. Full of content with over 9000 cards to collect, all without microtransactions. A definite must buy for Yu-Gi-Oh! fans and a great choice for those new to the franchise. Get out there and Duel!

Sep 10, 2019

Attractive visuals and level variety could not quite make up for the technical difficulties present in Fin and the Ancient Mystery. However, given the approachable price point and mild replayability, this game might be worth a quick playthrough for fans of platforming games, assuming depth is not part of your gaming pursuits.

8 / 10.0 - Borderlands 2 VR
Sep 6, 2019

Like Skyrim's VR port, Borderlands 2 VR feels like a curio. It's a fun way to revisit a modern classic, but isn't the best way to actually play the game. As a VR title, it's excellent, but I'd argue if you're looking to get caught up before Borderlands 3, you'll find it more comfortable to do so in the Handsome Collection.

I enjoyed Whipseey but I wish it had deeper gameplay mechanics and maybe some sort of progression system. Its bright, clean and not very expensive. Its a good one for trophy hunters, it has a fun trophy list to complete and does not overstay its welcome or become repetative.

9 / 10.0 - Observation
Sep 4, 2019

Observation is an unnerving, beautiful, and captivating space station thriller that will stay with you long after the credits roll.

Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey is a beautiful, ambitious game of evolution. Unfortunately, the sheer initial difficulty, repetitiveness, and discouragement associated with some of the mechanics and replayability will likely limit this title to only those most dedicated to seeing the game through to the end. For a lack of better words, it feels as if this game needs to go through a bit of evolution itself in order to smooth the roughness and make players want to journey through this odyssey.

Train Sim World's 2020 upgrade certainly adds some much needed polish, but doesn't fix the base game's poor visuals or technical gremlins.

10 / 10.0 - Tetris Effect
Aug 29, 2019

A euphoric, almost religious game, and one that will make you wonder what you've been doing playing other games.

7 / 10.0 - Riverbond
Aug 29, 2019

This cutesy adventure feels barebones yet ideal for a fun family game and a child's introduction to hack and slash games.

6 / 10.0 - Damsel
Aug 28, 2019

While not a bad game by any means, Damsel seems to lack polish and direction. With a mediocre story and overly cluttered environments, it struggles to find its footing as either a story-rich game or speedrunning twitch fest. If one direction was chosen, the potential seen here could certainly be reached.

Aug 28, 2019

I feel like I've ripped on Man of Medan a lot which is odd considering I actually enjoyed it. Sadly, you can't help but compare it to Until Dawn which quite frankly did everything better. Man of Medan is over far too quickly and doesn't have the same impact of Supermassive's previous entry. It is, however, a short but sweet enjoyable romp which is way better when played with friends.

Aug 28, 2019

Hotline Miami and its sequel stand the test of time as two titles built around an excellent combat loop while offering so much more as well. The visuals, soundtrack, and kinetic combat combine to form one of the greatest indie titles in history - and one still worth playing in 2019.

7 / 10.0 - Control
Aug 26, 2019

While some technical issues plague this highly atmospheric action adventure, Control has a highly customizable combat system that is fun and addictive to play.

8 / 10.0 - Snooker 19
Aug 23, 2019

Snooker 19 is a great snooker simulation that runs very well. It gets slightly let down by repetitive commentary and be prepared to be bombarded if you do not have a Nintendo Online subscription. Apart from that its a lot of fun and every snooker fan should give it a go.
