Momodora: Reverie Under the Moonlight is the ideal mix of old and new.
For its price and what its trying to do, Ghost Blade HD isn’t the worst time.
The feeling of adventure has always been present in Zelda titles, but none of the previous titles have offered the same immense feeling of freedom as Breath of the Wild. The huge world offers hours upon hours of exploration that is well worth it, but will always show the way to continue moving forward in the story at any time.
A wisecracking goblin assassin may seem like an odd choice for a protagonist, but the titular character of Styx: Shards of Darkness is enjoyable to control.
Atelier Firis: The Alchemist and the Mysterious Journey is a title that engenders quite a bit of well-deserved criticism.
Touhou Genso Wanderer is a worthy addition to any roguelike fan's collection, and even more so for Touhou fans as there are references to their other games throughout this one.
Touhou Double Focus is a quirky Metroidvania that offers fun and challenging gameplay.
The Shadows of Pygmalion provides a tremendously enjoyable dramatic story which showcases just how strenuous being a "hero" can be — especially when you're just a normal high schooler.
Stranger of Sword City Revisited is an improvement over the original release, making this the version to play if Stranger of Sword City is a title on your radar that you haven't gotten to yet.
Da Capo 3 R is a massive visual novel that is set to provide hours upon hours of entertainment for the sort of visual novel fan who loves their slice of life tales with a dose of fantasy.
Numerous Japanese visual novels have been coming to English-speaking audiences lately, many of them excellent.
Skylanders Imaginators remains the same great game on Nintendo Switch as it was on other consoles, but with a few drawbacks and additions.
Just Dance 2017 on Nintendo Switch is the definition of a port as besides allowing for new control options, there's nothing to distinguish it from other consoles.
It’s good to have Bomberman back and in a meaningful way.
Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands is an open world thrill ride.
NieR: Automata is an absolute masterpiece from beginning to end (or ends, to be a bit more accurate).
With frustrating tech, unappealing appearance and a lack of quality of life streamlining, Torment: Tides of Numenera might actually be my biggest gaming-related disappointment since I bought an Atari Jaguar. Some of the complaints mentioned here, especially exploration (wrongly as load times weren’t this bad), could be leveled at Planescape: Torment, but many years have gone by with many new ideas to make gaming experiences more engrossing.
Although it’s told through the lenses of cute cuddly woodland creatures, Night in the Woods‘ narrative themes of isolation and insecurity are nothing to shake a stick at.
Fans of this series have absolutely no reason to ignore Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns. It continues to improve upon the Bokujo Monogatari formula in smart ways as well as retain the core concepts which fans love.
Despite these minor critiques, Nioh solidifies the status of roguelikes and their relevance in today’s gaming landscape.
