Yoshi’s New Island may bring a more relatively easy experience to more hard-pressed Nintendo fans, but its pastel charms and colorful spirit shouldn’t be off-putting to anyone. What it may lack in technical and gameplay innovation, it more than makes up for in creativity and charm – it would be hard for even the most sour-faced Nintendo fan to not crack a smile and want the best for Yoshi and Baby Mario to make it to safety. Yoshi may not be Mario, but he stills gives plenty a reason for gamers to take a trip to his own little paradise in Yoshi’s New Island, even if it’s just for a day-trip.

As for myself, it's just another reminder of why grindhouse style media never caught on; It's vacuous and tedious… just like Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z.

I think that Hideo Kojima and team have something truly special in store for us when The Phantom Pain is finally released and Ground Zeroes is just a sampling of this.

inFAMOUS: Second Son is easily the best game I've played on the PlayStation 4 and the best example out there of how amazing the current gen can and will be.

Die-hard fans of the franchise will have a lot of content to sink their teeth into. If your on the outside looking in, Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends' rather shallow and repetitive gameplay isn't rewarding enough to dive in.  It doesn't really do much to push the franchise forward any meaningful way.

8.5 / 10.0 - MLB 14: The Show
Apr 1, 2014

MLB 14: The Show is a must have for any baseball fan. Road to the Show alone is worth the purchase and the overall improvement on an already great foundation is what we want to see from sports games.

With only two episodes left until the case can (presumably) come to a close, the third episode of the series brings us back on the path to the killer and takes where we need to go for the bitter end of The Wolf Among Us — even if it's to places we may not necessarily want to wind up.

Kinect Sport Rivals gave me a renewed faith for the Kinect. What Rare did was show us the technology works. Finally we've got a fun party game for the Xbox One that's easy to pick up if you have the space. It's not perfect but the title atones for past motion control sins. Most importantly, it gives us confidence for the hardware's future.

There's not much more to say other than Strike Suit Zero is a fun game that fans of anime and space sim games should check out.

Octodad isn't a game that's for everyone but it is unique and for that I applaud it.

Mario Golf: World Tour is an excellent golfing title that combines the strategy and depth of golf with the personality and fun of the Super Mario series. Whether you're a beginner or advanced player, child or adult, there's something for everyone here.

Kirby may be small and cute, but he doesn't let looks deceive anyone, and neither should those that look at Kirby: Triple Deluxe. With a wide variety of charming levels and an even greater assortment of fun, inventive power-ups and abilities, Triple Deluxe's slightly gameplay misgivings are easy to overlook, even if it's only because of Kirby's inescapable cuteness and charm. Although Kirby may not have the big presence of Nintendo's other franchises, this gamenevertheless makes a case as one of the system's most refreshing and feature-packed platformers yet, and provides a fun, old-school experience that is all too easy to get sucked into.

Though Clementine's story may be drawing closer and closer to some grim truths and hard choices, "In Harm's Way" proves that The Walking Dead: Season Two is not worth looking away from just yet.

8.5 / 10.0 - Transistor
May 20, 2014

Like the saddest songs that call to us from the depths of our emotions — from despair, to longing, to heartbreak — Transistor may not necessarily be the easiest, or most accessible, title to jump into wholeheartedly in a rush. But given time and a chance to shine, its song resonates beautifully when it hits all the right notes.

Wolfenstein: The New Order is ambitious in ways you wouldn't figure a Wolfenstein game would be. Machine Games managed to craft an enjoyable intriguing world while keeping the classic tradition of graphic and nonsensical violence. It's a good time.

Even as a slightly lesser and brief episode, "In Sheep's Clothing" does provide us with the door now open to the end of Bigby's adventures: the only way we can find out what's next is by going through.

5.5 / 10.0 - Final Fantasy III
May 27, 2014

If you're serious about Final Fantasy, though, you'll love the familiarity of the classic turn-based gameplay and seeing franchise regulars again (Cid <3). Unfortunately, in the hierarchy of Final Fantasy games, III doesn't have the same magic of the Chocobo riding adventures that followed it.

9 / 10.0 - Watch Dogs
May 27, 2014

Watch_Dogs may not have the best story out there and certain elements may not be 100% perfect, but things mesh together in a beautifully large open world playground that will leave you wanting more, and will pretty much always provide what you're looking for.

9.5 / 10.0 - Mario Kart 8

While I do wish certain mechanics such as two-racer teams and character exclusive specials would have made the list, and many gamers might be disappointed with the partial voice chat, 8 is still an excellent entry that should not be missed.
