GBAtemp's Reviews

I recognize the way the gameplay could be fun to other people, but I ultimately did not find it good enough to carry the entire experience. There is challenge, but it doesn't feel fun. With a lacking story, at best average graphical presentation, and gameplay that falls short, I can't find much that would appeal to those who aren't already fans of the Deception series.

Guild of Dungeoneering is a simple yet very well executed game with a variety of unique mechanics and a lot of charm and character. If you are into Dungeon crawlers of any type the game is definitely worth checking out. However the title may be a little too simplistic and lacking in substance for some, while others will appreciate the fact that it is easily accessible and is the type of game you can easily dip into every once in a while without needing too much investment. This is a title I would definitely recommend to fans of the genre and for those looking for a fun simple game that they can dip into and have a lot of fun with every once in a while.

Although Onechanbara Z2: Chaos is certainly fun to play through, it does fall short in too many ways to look at it as much more than an average experience. If you enjoy button mashing, fan service laden zombie slaying, this game is for you. For everyone else, you may want to do your research before committing to this title.

Devil May Cry 4: Special Edition is a great game for fans of the series that has a lot to offer, both to those who have already played the title and those who are yet to pick it up. If you enjoy hacking away at never-ending hordes of enemies, this game is exactly what you're looking for.

7.5 / 10.0 - Lost Dimension
Jul 27, 2015

Overall, I think Lost Dimension is a great game. It has a few technical problems here and there but the core gameplay is really fun and the unique playthroughs are a plus. However, the story could have been much better and could have had a lot more depth to it.

7.5 / 10.0 - Kyn
Jul 27, 2015

Kyn is an interesting first game from independent developer Tangrin Entertainment. The game brings with it an interesting campaign and gorgeous environment, but could use some polishing in the story telling side.

The Swindle is a very fun game, and I would certainly recommend it at its small price point.

3 / 10.0 - Submerged
Aug 6, 2015

Submerged could have been interesting. It could have offered a nice challenge, a good setting, a good story, but it did none of these things. Submerged ended up being so samey and monotonous that it isn't really worth playing through when you realize the first half hour is what the entire game is.

Legacy of the Duelist was a refreshing Yu-Gi-Oh experience. It's fun, it's addicting, and at the cheap price of $19.99, you'd be crazy not to pick it up. I'd highly recommend you get your game on, because it's time to D-D-D-D-DDDDD-DUEL! (I couldn't resist.)

8.3 / 10.0 - Rare Replay
Aug 11, 2015

Rare Replay is an incredible offering for the Xbox platform, at a cheap price. While some titles had hiccups, the full offering of games is enough to make Rare Replay an absolute must have for any fan of Rare, or anyone looking to play some of the most iconic games in the industry.

Risen 3: Titan Lords - Enhanced Edition is a solid attempt at an open-world RPG that just falls short of being a great game. Overall this is the best title in what is otherwise a mediocre series.

Danganronpa did it again. Another Episode was heartpounding, mind blowing, and for the millionth time, filled with despair. So do yourself a favour, fill yourself with hope, and absolutely play this must have entry in the Danganronpa franchise.

8.3 / 10.0 - Calvino Noir
Aug 24, 2015

I was surprised at how interested I was in the story. It's not too difficult to understand the plot, yet it isn't spoon fed to you. A big part of the immersion comes from that fact that every bit of dialogue in the game is completely voice acted so I actually felt a connection to the main characters.

9 / 10.0 - Until Dawn
Aug 30, 2015

If you like adventure and horror games or cheesy slasher flicks you'll be right at home with Until Dawn. It unashamedly uses every trope in the book but is so well developed that it will become the new standard that future adventure games are compared to. Overall I enjoyed it enough to play through again and see the alternate outcomes as well as find the missing collectibles.

Nobunaga's Ambition: Sphere of Influence is mechanically, a skillfully crafted game, reciprocating an equal amount of depth as one invests.

In a world where I started to find too much simplicity and repetition in Mario, I have had my mind turned upside down thanks to Mario Maker. Where I desired difficulty, I received it. Where I asked for more Yoshi, I got it. Where I asked for an endless amount of Mario to play, I have obtained it. And something I thought since being a small child was realized as well. I get to make Mario, the way I want to play Mario.

7.8 / 10.0 - Mad Max
Sep 11, 2015

An enjoyable game with a stunning world, familiar combat and interesting driving. Falls short on the story development and somewhat repetitive gameplay. Worth a shot after the slower summer days if you're waiting for some other games to release closer to the end of the year.

Bigger, crazier and more spectacular than ever, Disgaea 5 doesn't disappoint and continues to be one of my favorite strategy franchises. While the pacing may be a bit slow, it doesn't detract from the overall quality of the game and it's absolutely worth picking up.

Persona 4: Dancing All Night is an amazing rhythm game with incredible music that even had me singing along. While I didn't really like the storytelling or the low amount of songs in the game, I still enjoyed my time spent with the game.
