4.5 / 5.0 - Far Cry 4
Nov 22, 2014

With the possibility that anything can, and will happen in Far Cry 4, it makes Ubisoft Montreal's latest inclusion in the series an essential purchase. Granted, even though Far Cry 4 is very much a prettier version of Far Cry 3, it is still incredibly entertaining. The bar was set so high with Far Cry 3, that even though there are numerous similarities between the two games, Far Cry 4 and  Kyrati is still worthy of your exploration. Ubisoft will however now face a dilemma with the undoubted arrival of Far Cry 5 in the future because they will know they've exhausted the general plot of both games. To have another story of a liberating American traveller will unlikely sit well with the community of fans the Far Cry series has, and creating a brand new experience that betters both Far Cry 3 and 4 will be tricky. Nevertheless, Far Cry 4 is an enjoyable, exhilarating thrill ride full of enough entertainment to keep you happy. Just be nice to the elephants!

Dragon Age: Inquisition definitely surpasses its predecessors in terms of its gaming mechanics that can be played by a variety of gamers of all levels. The third game in the series is easily one of the most polished RPG's on any system that boasts an engaging story, wonderful characters and flawless combat with your different classes. However where this game does shine is with its beautifully created open-world universe that although has some limitations, still gives the player an unparalleled amount of freedom as they attempt to stop this ancient evil from destroying the societal structures of Thedas!

Although Assassin's Creed Unity doesn't reach the same heights of last year's Black Flag, it definitely screams next-gen, however it is plagued by some graphical bugs and occasional slowdowns. Thankfully this doesn't hamper the gameplay experience too much.

Singstar Ultimate Party definitely misses the mark when it comes to all the bells and whistles from the Singstar franchise. Sure the gameplay is sturdy and the voice recognition is pretty much flawless but it's missing the heart and soul of what made this series so good. Yes it's cool that you can use your mobile phone as a microphone and that you can share your videos with social media but regrettably that's about it.

Company of Heroes 2 Ardennes Assault is fun standalone campaign to this franchise that successfully recreates the battles of World War II and more importantly each time you replay the missions, they can all be finished in a myriad of ways that definitely increases the longevity of this title. Developers Relic should once again be applauded for creating one of the most realistic and emotional World War II real-time strategies to date that does not glorify but highlights the atrocities and how those men involved in the war went above and beyond their call of duty.

Farming Simulator 15 is not for all gamers and even though I wasn't a fan of the content, I can actually see its merits. It definitely recreates the farming experience well and it does give the player some great content in terms of what kind of farming equipment and crops are available. Needless to say, Farming Simulator 15 is also a time-hole because this game definitely requires patience to succeed but there is actually something enjoyable about this strange game based on farming!

If you missed Sleeping Dogs last generation then you really should pick this up – With all of the DLC and refinements this is truly the definitive Sleeping Dogs experience… On consoles, at least. The engaging gameplay, unique setting, solid driving and exceptional combat all come together to give players one of the most enjoyable open world games currently available and hopefully this time Sleeping Dogs won't fly under the radar as much and more gamers will get to experience it.

The Master Chief Collection successfully brings the Halo franchise to the XBox One and with Halo 5 just around the corner, this is the perfect compendium to replay the entire series on this amazing console. More importantly, The Master Chief Collection retails for around $79AUD (November 2014) which is true value for money and given the amount of content from both single-player to multiplayer, it's really hard to find a place to start.

Call of Duty Advanced Warfare once again proves why this series is so popular and more importantly, it feels like a next-gen title with exceptional graphics and almost flawless gameplay. The story is brilliant and with the inclusion of Kevin Spacey, it's like you're the star of some Hollywood blockbuster movie and this is where the game shines, in single-player. Multiplayer is fun but cannot match the epic scale of the story of Call of Duty Advanced Warfare but even so, it's going to be a game that I'll be playing for quite some time.

The Vanishing Ethan Carter is definitely the must play game of the year that successfully creates a gripping and engaging tale without an ounce of input from the game itself. All the clues are right in front of the player and thus it's up to you to put back together this amazing jigsaw puzzle about a young boy and his dark family with some of the best graphics you'll witness on the PC. More importantly, the game definitely deserves another play through due to the cleverly written puzzles and wondrous links to the Carter family.

4.3 / 5.0 - Shadow Warrior
Nov 5, 2014

Shadow Warrior successfully takes the best out of the 90's and turns it into a very amusing first person shooter that thankfully doesn't take itself too seriously… remember those serious Doom remakes? This is not the case with Shadow Warrior as it gives the player pure fun in not just the overtly gory violence, one-liners and jokes but the entire gaming atmosphere that is put together with a very amusing storyline with very memorable protagonists from the classic 90's!

Koei have finally reached the 21st century with their Samurai Warriors and number 4 in the franchise successfully ticks all the right next-gen boxes. Sure, it can be played as a button smasher but if you want to flesh out the gameplay, there are some very impressive strategies involved, especially when you bring a friend on board. With beautiful cinemas, engaging graphics and fluid gameplay, Samurai Warriors 4 is definitely the must play game from this series.

TellTale games is on a big stride here! They hit it with The Walking Dead Season and the follow up The Walking Dead 400 days and they are on another winner with The Wolf Among Us. All in all, the Wolf Among Us is an excellent game that is best played on a high-end console as it gives the entire experience, a movie-like feel!

4 / 5.0 - Just Dance 2015
Oct 28, 2014

Just Dance 2015 is easily one of the best dancing games available and sure, it doesn't add much to genre but when a game is this good, there's not really a lot to change or add. With exceptional graphics, decent gameplay thanks to the Kinect 2 and a truly pumping track list, Just Dance 2015 is definitely a must have title if you love singing, dancing or both… so grab your friends and get ready to have the best dance off of 2014. Recommended!

3 / 5.0 - Driveclub
Oct 28, 2014

DriveClub is a beautiful disappointment. Beautiful because of the tracks and locations, and a disappointment for pretty much everything else. It's not worth the retail fee, and if you're a Playstation Plus member you will eventually be able to download it for free, but of course it will be missing a few features that are included in the full paid version. My advice would be just to wait for the free version if you're desperate for a racing sim on the PS4. It's not an awful game but feel free to skip this one as you're not missing much.
