But again: many people will enjoy this type of gameplay, and if the simple joy of running around as a LEGO Avenger sounds appealing to you (and you can't play the console version for whatever reason), pick up the 3DS version of Lego Marvel's Avengers. Just don't expect it to blow you away.
Mutant Mudds Super Challenge is, for better or worse, more of the same – just a bit harder. If you enjoyed the original Mutant Mudds and don’t mind heavy difficulty right out of the gate (and some frustrating boss battles), Super Challenge is for you. If you didn’t enjoy Mutant Mudds, this won’t change your mind. And if you haven’t played the original, you definitely want to start there instead – seriously, this game is hard. In the end, Super Challenge is a brilliant title that, despite its lack of new additions and frustrating bosses, continues the series’ reputation as a shining example of pitch-perfect platforming mechanics and design. If you feel like dying and loving every minute of it, Mutant Mudds Super Challenge is for you.
It's been 20 years since the Pokémon series was first introduced. For the past two decades, fans all over the world have spent hours upon hours battling and trading Pokémon of all sorts, getting lost in this fictional, yet amazing world. While features and mechanics gradually evolved as the series progressed, the core formula has remained intact throughout all of the main entries. As a result, veterans of the series have continued to enjoy each new entry just as much as the newcomers. With that said, get ready to experience a whole new world with a brand new attitude, because Pokkén Tournament is truly like no other Pokémon game.
Pokemon has been a big part of my life since it first arrived on US shores in 1998. It is a game that has captured the imaginations of children and adults alike. For the first time in the series\’ history, Pokemon X has made the full transition to 3D. It also offers advancements to the series as never before seen, changing the battle formula and how we battle each other online.
That aside however, if you are a fan of either genre, there is some enjoyment to be had here. It’s not an epic RPG adventure, but more something lighthearted akin to the Fantasy Life on the 3DS. If you are looking for a decent JRPG with farming elements that blends together quite well, then Return to Popolocrois: A Story of Seasons is a solid pick up. If you are hoping for a heavy emphasis on one side or another, you may want to wait for a price drop.
Chasing Dead had promise, but fails on every single basic level of game design and playability. I honestly do hope the team is able to salvage this game in the future with updates, because I think if the performance of the game was at a decent level it could be a fun game. As it stands, this is the worst title I've played in 2016, and should be avoided at all costs.
Mega Man Legacy Collection is a great way to play classic Mega Man games on the go. The additional content is fantastic for retro gaming fans who like to see every bit of information they can with these classics games, and the digital package is a great value at $14.99. If you have ever been interested in playing the games that got Mega Man his start, this is a solid addition to any library.
At the end of the day though, Twilight Princess HD is yet another must-have for the Wii U library.
In conclusion, Fire Emblem Fates: Conquest is an absolute must buy for all those that are previous fans of the franchise. The game builds upon everything that came before it, and presents an experience that is truly challenging. New players may struggle through Conquest, and they may find a better experience within Birthright. However, for all those players that have been craving a truly classic Fire Emblem title, Fire Emblem Fates: Conquest is the game for you!
Overall Fire Emblem Fates: Birthright is a great game. The main campaign took me just under 20 hours to complete and that was rushing it without taking the time to dabble in the challenges, fully upgrade my castle, and develop character relationships further. Add on the endless amount of battles you can have with your friends and you can get a lot of value from this game. The gameplay, presentation and soundtrack are excellent for the 3DS. While I wish the story had more twists and that the main character had more depth, Fire Emblem Fates: Birthright is fantastic package with a lot to offer.
All things considered, Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty is a fine addition to the Wii U eShop lineup. It's one of the more polished titles on the service, and has a good length and value to it. It's a bit of a shame that after the long wait the GamePad is used simply as Off-TV and the framerate issues can be noticeable at times, but if you are primarily a Wii U owner, this is game worth owning.
All in all, Outside the Realm is not great. At just fifty cents at launch, it may be worth a playthrough if you want something mindless to play for thirty minutes. Yet it lacks any depth and challenge; it's reasonably good by Wii U budget title standards, but unfortunately it never steps into its own potential to become truly worthwhile.
Indie-games are known for being highly original, creative ideas—well the majority of them at least. At times, some indie developers just prefer to take an existing concept and put their own spin on things; and hey, there's nothing wrong with that. There are some indie games that actually end up being better than the classics that they're molded from, while still giving retro gamers that sweet rush of nostalgia.
All in all, Level 22 is a very worthwhile purchase if you are in the market for a top down stealth game. It is loaded with charm and has some well designed gameplay. It's not perfect – what game is? – but many will find a lot to enjoy from Level 22. You might be one of them. Just don't stay up too late playing, or your boss could get mad.
There are many great games on the Nintendo eShop, but unfortunately Shadow Puppeteer is not one of these games.
Those looking for a deep story or compelling adventure gameplay may not find it, but there's a lot to love in this first episode. It's just not for everyone.
At the end of the day though, Final Fantasy Explorers just feels shallow. It's not that it is a bad game, it's just painfully average in almost every respect. With some more graphical polish and more unique things to keep it in-line with the Final Fantasy universe, I think this game could have been a huge success. If you are a Monster Hunter or Final Fantasy diehard and want something new to play, this might fill the void for a little while, but at the end of the day, it just feels like a poor-man's attempt at Monster Hunter.
All in all, it is hard to recommend The Perplexing Orb. Certainly it is not incompetent — the physics work, and the core is fine — but nothing is done to make it stand out. The level design is totally unremarkable, the length is short, and the visuals and music, while mostly not unpleasant, are just unimpressive. Even so, those that like rolling a ball through an obstacle course will find something to enjoy here.
With superb writing and fun combat, Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam is another solid addition to the series' lineup. While the game does seem to lose focus once in awhile, and capturing Paper Toads can get very tedious, the addictive battle system and great presentation more than make up for it. Fans of the series and newcomers as well will find a lot of enjoyment with Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam.
While Snoopy's Grand Adventure welcomed me to a promising experience, the overall package did not deliver due to offering little sense of challenge or purpose.
