MonsterVine's Reviews

As someone who's been burnt out on the series for the past few years I couldn't get into MW3, BO2, or Ghosts but Advanced Warfare finally got me back into the series. The jetpack is such a game changer for me I honestly want nothing to do with the next games in the series if they don't have something similar.

A modern adventure game of its own accord, Life is Strange tackles its expository episode and succeeds in developing its own persona amongst its peers.

3.5 / 5.0 - Dying Light
Feb 2, 2015

Overall Dying Light is a solid game. It's got some satisfying as hell combat and running around the city never gets old, but it's unfortunately saddled with a forgettable story and uninteresting side-quests.

Despite some needless changes to Homeworld 1's mechanics, this is still a fantastic remastered collection by Gearbox that shouldn't be missed by newcomers to the series or fans who have been itching to replay the series.

4.5 / 5.0 - Axiom Verge

I have been waiting, and craving a game like Axiom Verge and it delivers in almost every way.

Fans of the hunting genre or anyone looking to dip their toes in it will find a fantastic game in Toukiden: Kiwami with dozens of hours to sink into.

3.5 / 5.0 - I Am Bread
Apr 23, 2015

I Am Bread is a goofy, buggy, physics adventure that shows the determination of a piece of bread to become toast. With multiple ways to play and solve the games many puzzles, I Am Bread can easily entertain for hours. Unfortunately, clunky controls, difficulty spikes and unintentional bugs can make the experience unbearable at times.

3 / 5 - Titan Souls
Apr 24, 2015

If you are looking for a short, reflex based battle of bosses than Titan Souls might be a right fit. But if you want something with gameplay versatility, or character progression then you better roll away now.

Despite a few slight issues, Shadowrun Chronicles is a fantastic strategy game to sink your time in this summer.

2.5 / 5.0 - Broken Age
May 11, 2015

Everything about Broken Age should have been fantastic but the lack of puzzles and a lame plot that edges too heavy on the exposition turns this into a decent, but extremely disappointing package.

Even though we've still got half a year left to go, The Witcher 3 is one of those games that you just instantly know will be one of the best damn games of the year. Despite some minor technical issues on consoles it's still a phenomenal game and one of the best RPGs in recent years.

The Masterplan is a neat game that will definitely satisfy if you've been hungry for a heist game, but technical issues stop it from being something great.

2 / 5 - Traverser
Jul 16, 2015

Piss poor controls, an insipid plot, and a ridiculously short length makes what could have been a neat game into a retread of things I've played many times before but better.

3.5 / 5.0 - Kyn
Jul 29, 2015

Although Kyn is an average title in most aspects, if you are a fan of the RTSRPG genre, dungeon crawling through this viking landscape with your customized party is a better experience than many.

1.5 / 5.0 - Catlateral Damage
Aug 3, 2015

Catlateral Damage is something I feel like I should be spending a dollar, five tops, as a dumb time killer for my phone. For something that just barely has enough content to be a game it’s not only asking for too much, but gets incredibly repetitive within its first few minutes.

For everything that RymdResa is and isn't, it's a beautiful game.

The game lacks long-term progress and depth, however, through its simple aesthetics, whimsical music, and interesting gameplay, the game manages to offer a unique and inspired twist to the dungeon-crawler genre.

2 / 5 - The Flock
Aug 25, 2015

It's so frustrating playing a game with such an interesting premise that fails to capitalize on its potential. The Flock is unfortunately doomed to be one of those games people put in their "Wasted Potential" lists.

I was expecting a bit more from this game in terms of meaningful gameplay improvements and AI fixes, but that doesn't stop this trip down memory lane from being a hell of a ride.

The Director's cut of QUBE is the best version of the game, and a good time to replay it, solely for the added story content.
