8.4 / 10.0 - Overcooked 2
Sep 19, 2018

When we first started Overcooked! 2, we expected a two to a three-star game due to lack of advertisement and knowledge. Instead, we were treated to a full course meal with a few peculiar side dishes that left our pallets craving more.

Gamers who enjoy a good fantasy story and a well-constructed world will find a lot to enjoy in Ash of Gods: Redemption. Likewise, fans of tactical, turn-based squad combat. Whether that’s sufficient motivation to overcome poor documentation and meandering plots is another question.

Pillars of Eternity II gave me the tools and the inspiration to spin a yarn of my own design that rivals those told in my favorite epic fantasy series and novels with the opportunity to go back and do it all again and for that, Obsidian, I thank you.

6.1 / 10.0 - Strange Brigade
Aug 30, 2018

With just a few small changes in design, Strange Brigade could have been a sleeper hit that people were talking about for years to come. Unfortunately, no matter how pretty the game looks, the flaws in gameplay keep it from being little more than passable and ultimately forgettable as the bigger games release across the holiday season.

8.3 / 10.0 - Yakuza Kiwami 2
Aug 28, 2018

Yakuza’s silly sense of humor may not be everyone, but it’s complex narrative plays out like an HBO style crime thriller, so it’s worth experiencing for that alone. Fans of the series will, no doubt, have a blast with Yakuza Kiwami 2.

9.8 / 10.0 - Cosmic Star Heroine

Cosmic Star Heroine is a great experience for those nostalgic for old school JRPGs and those who are curious about how it felt for the rest of us back in the day.

7.2 / 10.0 - Moonlighter
Jun 7, 2018

Players who pick up Moonlighter had best love both dungeon grinding and shop-based mini games. Ignoring the shop will only result in having to do so to progress and ignoring the dungeons will result in a lack of things to sell.

Despite the dark visuals of the game, the future looks bright for both Light Fall and Bishop Games.

6.8 / 10.0 - Vampyr
Jun 5, 2018

I can say I’d recommend Vampyr for its unique way of storytelling, but just be sure to get this at a sale or rent. Maybe enough feedback will motivate the developers to come out with a harder difficulty mode that forces players to fully take advantage of it’s Citizen System.

9.2 / 10.0 - Just Shapes & Beats
May 31, 2018

Just Shapes & Beats is a great game to have at parties! While the game has taken a few years to be developed the team has really shown how much love they’ve put into Just Shapes & Beats.

While Dragon’s Crown Pro won’t be for everyone, those looking for an arcade-style RPG with a lot of co-op potential should look into it and give it a try at the most. Those that enjoy Dungeons & Dragons will probably have a rocking time and honestly, Dragon’s Crown Pro would be the perfect break for those doing longer role-playing sessions.

6 / 10.0 - Mulaka
May 20, 2018

Tarahumara mythology is fascinating—just the break I needed away from the Skyrims and World of Warcrafts of the fantasy genre. I might never have learned about the Tarahumara and listened to an indigenous language for the first time. But, Mulaka stretches a bit too long for my taste.

There are some unfortunate glitches that really hurt the ability to enjoy the atmosphere the game is trying to create. This doesn’t change the fact though that it is still a game worth checking out.

7.8 / 10.0 - Far Cry 5

I would recommend Far Cry 5 once the price drops. To anyone who wants to have a good stupid time, go ahead and get the game, but be prepared for it’s irritating design choices.

For the majority of the sequel’s playtime, I’d say it’s a real step-up from the first game. Fans of the series ought to do themselves a favor and experience this gory tale for themselves.
