Marooners' Rock's Reviews

Aug 21, 2020

Where Flight Simulator shines, is in its ability to be both an inexpensive training tool for actual pilots, an accessible introduction to aviation for new people, and also a place where the hardcore can live out their airline pilot dreams.

9.5 / 10.0 - Halo 5: Guardians
Oct 26, 2015

There is still some question as to whether fans will accept Locke as much as they've accepted Master Chief, as well as how significantly the game will hold up in multiplayer once the public servers go live. But for what I've seen and played for so many hours over the weekend, Halo 5: Guardians has indicated that 343 has not only picked up Bungie's ball, but scored with it on multiple occasions.

The game as a whole is a wonderful experience, even surpassing the original adventure that put Lara back on the map in 2013. It's that kind of sequel that deserves your utmost appreciation – kind of like a treasure in itself.

9.5 / 10.0 - Titanfall 2
Nov 2, 2016

Even with mild inconsistencies with storytelling and some weird Titan skills, Titanfall 2 is everything we could’ve hoped for a sequel to be. Everything comes together quite beautifully here, from the fluid gameplay to the wonderful presentation, and whether you prefer single or multiplayer, there’s a lot to get through here.

9.5 / 10.0 - The Final Station
Aug 31, 2016

Overall, The Final Station isn’t adding anything too new or revolutionary to the zombie shooter formula gameplay wise, but at this point what really matters is your motivation and the atmosphere the game takes place in that helps a game succeed in this genre. Tiny Build packed The Final Station full of both of those things and the end result is a surprisingly genuinely suspenseful 2D experience that combines train maintenance with zombie slaying.

9.5 / 10.0 - The Metronomicon

It is unique, fun and challenging. Just because you’re great at RPG strategy doesn’t mean you’ll do great, and just because you are a dancing machine doesn’t mean you’ll do great either. You must have a good combination of the two genres to succeed in this title, which is a lot of fun.

9.5 / 10.0 - Thumper
Nov 9, 2016

Thumper is a great game that is unique and difficult. Of course it is a specialty game, since rhythm isn’t a lot of people’s “thing,” but for what it is, it does it well. It is a game of pure rhythm that made me bob my head and try, try again.

9.5 / 10.0 - Deathloop
Sep 24, 2021

Going into our Deathloop review, we tried to have reasonable expectations. With any Bethesda game, you expect a certain level of bugs. Thankfully, Deathloop was rather bug-free; yes, there were a few bugs but nothing game-breaking. Arkane Studios did a great job crafting a story around Colt but sadly dropped the ball with Julianna. The team could put in a DLC at a later date expanding on her story or create an alternate tale. The game definitely has a learning curve because it does not hold your hand like other AAA titles.

Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengeance is an absurdly deep game is definitively the go-to SRPG experience on PS4. It has the whole package – great art, superb music, hilarious story, deep and complex mechanics, and a post-game that will keep you playing for hundreds of hours.

9.4 / 10.0 - The Solus Project

Graphically, The Solus Project is great. The atmospheric events were particularly nice, with the stars, weather, and astronomical events lending a very real feeling of loneliness to the whole affair.

Shantae and the Seven Sirens is definitely a highlight for the series, building on the jump to HD from its predecessor while finally finding a way to match the traditional dance and transformation mechanics with the speed and ease of use from Pirate’s Curse.
