However, unlike its source material, there’s nothing particularly special or engaging here, so unless you’re a massive fan of One Punch Man, I’d suggest looking elsewhere for your anime fighter fix.
If this is able to re-establish the series with its new visual style on the Nintendo Switch, then I’d like where the series can go from here, with a modernised take on the formula.
If you intend to try out all the new content then the asking price of AU$37.50 is worth it, but if you’re strictly only interested in the Cindered Shadows DLC then you may want to rethink the purchase.
If you’re a hardcore fan who wants to do every last possible mission, level up every character and hasn’t already had their fill with the base game then it’s definetly worth the asking price for the Ultimate upgrade.

There are some minor quality of life issues that detract from the overall experience and the new content, arguably, isn’t worth double dipping for if you played the Wii U original.
Ultimately A Hat in Time is a quirky platformer featuring a stellar cast of characters, unique levels that are fun to explore and balanced gameplay. However, the Nintendo Switch version has an inconsistent frame rate, a poor camera system and long load times which put it behind other versions.
