6.5 / 10.0 - Go Vacation
Jul 23, 2018

Go Vacation is sure to provide a somewhat unanticipated deep and good single-player experience. Plus, for younger kids or casual gaming with friends this will be a slightly-dated and simple, but ultimately fun party option to have in your collection.

Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker is a great little puzzle platformer that fits perfectly into the handheld side of the Switch's capabilities. Despite the rare awkward control issue while in TV mode and the slight feeling of repetitiveness that can appear near the end, the creative 'Hakoniwa' sandbox-style levels are all beautifully crafted and fun to explore. Charming music, bright and colourful visuals and references to past and future Mushroom Kingdom moments make this spin-off title a fantastic addition to your Switch's gaming library.

8.5 / 10.0 - Octopath Traveler
Jul 11, 2018

Octopath Traveler is a slice of old-school JRPG with enough modern sensibilities to make anyone from an old veteran to someone just starting their journey feel comfortable, which mirrors how the game follows the story of people ranging from a young, naive merchant to an old knight who lost his reason to be. Get those walking shoes on, we have a long road ahead.

8.5 / 10.0 - 20XX
Jul 8, 2018

20XX is a Mega Man clone that understands what it takes to challenge fans of the genre and allows you to include a friend in the mix. It's challenging, precise and an enormous amount of fun if you give it the time it deserves.

6.5 / 10.0 - MotoGP 18
Jul 5, 2018

Bike games always seem to get the short end of the stick and MotoGP 18 isn't going to help that cause. It might be a build up towards a better tomorrow, but for now you'll have to deal with a finish out of the points.

Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy on the Switch is somehow a match made in heaven. It hits all the right nostalgic notes while still revealing the flaws we all grew to tolerate if not love from the original series. Crash 2 and 3 are close to if not old-school platforming masterpieces and returning and new players alike will find special pleasure in being able to take this game wherever you go.

The Crew 2 expands its borders with the addition of air and aquatic racing thrown in the mix with iconic US cities and enjoyable online play with friends and many ways to race throughout a sprawling map.

7.5 / 10.0 - MXGP Pro
Jul 1, 2018

MXGP does take some time to get used to and the poorly designed UI doesn't help, but once you get going, it is a really solid Motocross experience that might be worth checking out.

The worst tennis game that has ever released on any format to date. It's unresponsive, looks amateur and is one game of tennis you should decline at all costs.

8.5 / 10.0 - The Sims 4: Seasons
Jun 26, 2018

While The Sims 4 Seasons hasn't reinvented the wheel, it has brought a much-requested feature to the latest iteration of the Sims franchise. No longer will your Sims be trapped in endless sunny days. Seasons brings some much-needed variation to the day to day play of The Sims 4, and I'm very glad for that.

LEGO The Incredibles has some great moments but starts to feel far too repetitive early on. The Parr family could do with more interesting locales than New Urbem, which is a pretty generic setting for a cast of great supers.

8 / 10.0 - Prey: Mooncrash
Jun 24, 2018

Mooncrash is the AAA roguelike you never knew you wanted. It takes several of the best things about Prey and breathes new life into them. It might not be more of the story of M.Yu, but there is still enough mystery to keep the horror themes alive as you try to crack the perfect run through the moon base.

Despite a few niggling issues Mario Tennis Aces is a great return to the best parts of the franchise. Gameplay is smooth, strategic and fun. And with story, tournament and multiplayer modes all available it is sure to bring a lot of fun to longtime fans and new players alike. It's almost all strawberries and cream, and although it may not quite be a perfect Love, Love yet, it is most definitely already a lot Like, Love.

8.5 / 10.0 - Onrush
Jun 13, 2018

Arcade racing is making a comeback and Onrush is the perfect dose of over-the-top racing by throwing a wrench into the traditional racing works and watching it explode into something that requires your undivided attention to take out the opposition and going as fast as you can, rather than getting over the finish line.

7 / 10.0 - Vampyr
Jun 7, 2018

Vampyr is not a perfect game by any stretch of the imagination, but what it tries to achieve is infinitely commendable. Its melding of difficulty with moral decisions as you play a vampiric doctor thrust into an impossible situation is ingenious and the world feels populated with deep characters that you'll get to know. The narrative is certainly its strongest aspect with everything ranging from small domestic disputes to grand schemes that would shake up its early 1900s flu-ridden world. Vampyr is a curiosity that you should at least give a shot.

Sushi Striker: The Way of Sushido takes a competent puzzle game and adds an interesting enough RPG element to add variety. The Story mode does linger for a little longer in the mouth than you would like, but online play and local multiplayer mean this may be just the game you need to fill 'that' spot in your library.
