6.5 / 10.0 - Skull and Bones
Feb 26, 2024

Overall the game is Decent, but with the amount of years it took to make, we both expected way more from the game. While the game invites players to explore the beautiful but treacherous Indian Ocean during the Golden Age of Piracy, if it weren’t for the Online Servers, this game would likely be one you’d see heavily pirated, just like the Golden Age of Piracy the game is set in.

5.5 / 10.0 - qomp2
Feb 21, 2024

Qomp2 embraces the spirit of 90s arcade gaming, blending familiar elements with innovative gameplay. Despite the Pong-inspired marketing, the game evolves into a challenging puzzle platformer that stands on its own merits. With its clever level design, challenging bosses, and a soundtrack that harks back to the golden age of gaming, Qomp2 is a game for those seeking a nostalgic yet fresh gaming experience but isn’t a game that’s even close to being worth its price tag of $19.99 USD ($25.99 CAD), as is a game that should have been exclusive to just the Atari VCS where it feels the game truly belongs and can have its moment of fame and not get lost in the sea of better titles for the price.

7.5 / 10.0 - Helldivers II
Feb 20, 2024

Arrowhead’s Helldivers 2 is an addictively fun co-op shooter that delivers explosive thrills and laughs, when it works at least. The constant server and matchmaking issues prevent it from being a must play experience right now. But it is indeed a worthy successor to the original game, and a great homage to the sci-fi space action genre. Now will you show your patriotism for Super Earth, soldier?

3.5 / 10.0 - GENIE Reprise
Feb 15, 2024

For those unimpressed by poetic endeavors, GENIE Reprise generously offers you mere glimpses of game worlds to aimlessly wander through – cramped locales that wouldn’t even make the cut in the next big-budget Western RPG. The sheer lack of substance in these worlds is staggering; there’s nothing to do beyond the absolute bare minimum required to stumble through the experience until its inevitable, and merciful, conclusion. While a handful of locales might stick around in your mind, it’s more likely due to the trauma of realizing how utterly unengaging and devoid of challenge the entire experience is. If there was any intent behind this lackluster endeavor, part of me suspects that the developers aimed for a masterpiece in mediocrity from the start. GENIE Reprise 100% feels more like a tech demo than a game.

I believe that Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden fills a specific niche in terms of genres, offering a unique blend of consequential story telling whilst also delivering a satisfying action role playing experience. It’s not perfect by any means, but it is a huge step forward in terms of creativity in the gaming medium and I’m all for it.

Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty Complete Edition embarks on an ambitious yet flawed Souls-Like journey. While the engaging combat system, captivating RPG elements, and impressive aesthetics shine through, they are hindered by a lack of difficulty balance, a rushed narrative conclusion, and notable technical issues. It is imperative for the developers to address these performance issues promptly, elevating the game to the standard expected with its price tag and ensuring a more enjoyable and stable experience for players eager to immerse themselves in the world of Wo Long.

Despite being in development hell for almost 8 years, Granblue Fantasy: Relink surpassed my initial troubled expectations. With its beautiful animations, addicting combat, and varied character roster, Relink is undoubtedly an experience that will appeal to fans of the series and the action RPG genre in general, especially the end-game multiplayer content. However, as a standalone solo-player JRPG experience, it’s a generic and bland affair.

Turnip Boy Robs A Bank is a bit on the shorter side, I was able to finish the majority of the content by the 5th hour or so which isn’t too bad for this type of game. I’m sure people will come up with different types of challenges for themselves such as only using starting weapons, no passive upgrades, and things of this nature to get a bit more mileage from Turnip Boy Robs A Bank. I definitely enjoyed my time with it and with it being on sale currently on Steam and also available on Gamepass it is hard not to recommend giving the game a playthrough if you like these style of games.

The Last of Us Part II Remastered might not be the remaster that players have asked for, but surely one that everyone can appreciate. Both games in The Last of Us franchise are now easily accessible side by side on the PlayStation 5 and can be enjoyed by returning and new players alike. The added visual flares and technical improvements are the cherries on top, but the addictive No Return roguelike mode among intimate commentary and pre-alpha levels are what make this the definitive sequel experience.

Yuuna and the Haunted Hot Springs: The Thrilling Steamy Maze Kiwami is a game that caters to a specific audience. It is a game that offers a lot of fanservice, humor, and adventure, but also a lot of controversy, censorship, and simplicity. It is a game that might not be suitable for everyone, but it is a game that delivers what it promises. It is a game that is worth trying, if you are a fan of the series.
