VGChartz's Reviews
Paranautical Activity is a mixed bag designed for a niche audience. If you like twitch shooters, permadeath, and high difficult levels, this is a game that's worth considering. If you're a shooting fan who wants more structure and predictability, Paranautical Activity is probably a skip.
If this is to be the Vita's swan song, so be it. It's arguably DrinkBox's greatest work, and it's an early contender for game of the year.
In every way it's the faithful successor to Star Fox 64 that fans have been anticipating for almost 20 years.
Despite its low profile and low price, Star Fox Zero is a blast to play.
Some of the more painful and disappointing types of games to play are those that have obvious potential but are unable to truly shine as a result of some preventable blunders. Stories: The Path of Destinies is unfortunately one of those titles.
It can be brutally, even impossibly difficult at times, but if you're able to reconcile yourself to that then you'll be gungeoneering for some time to come.
Faithfully restored and rich in nostalgic goodness, Day of the Tentacle Remastered is easy to recommend, both to LucasArts fanatics and adventure game newcomers.
Although elements of the game can become repetitive or frustrating, Black Desert Online does provide a staggering amount of content and is well worth considering if you're looking to try out a new MMORPG.
While the presentation continues to go from strength to strength, almost everything else falls spectacularly flat.
Its brilliance goes well beyond its brazen art style and extends to a challenging but highly rewarding combat system.
An ode to the Souls series as well as an excellent Metroidvania game in its own right.
Pokkén Tournament is an unqualified success.
The biggest drawback is the lack of any major new additions, aside from the upgraded graphics. The other changes are fine, but in comparing this package to some other remakes and remasters, it feels a little bit wanting.
There are hints of more significant and interesting narrative arcs to come - ones that will hopefully play out in the coming episodes, with Michonne's own past being one of these - but with how haphazardly the rest of the characters' narrative arcs have so far been handled I'm a little wary of the outcome.
Even though it is short and repetitive, The Town of Light's powerful, mature story along with its strong presentation makes it a worthwhile experience.
Playing Tribute Games' Ninja Senki DX is very much like reliving the past of videogames and revelling in its joy and simplicity.
In its current state, Street Fighter V offers brilliant core gameplay and presentation coupled with patchy amounts of content.
The Following is the type of DLC/expansion that should be industry standard. Its additions to story and gameplay, as well as the tweaking of bugs and glitches from the main game, combine to form a truly entertaining expansion.
Artistically and graphically it is sublime, and initially at least there are some neat moments to behold, but the rest of the title including, crucially, the gameplay, simply does not hold up to scrutiny.
There's definitely fun to be had, especially with a couple of friends, but it never manages to get over the mediocre hump of repetition.
