Wow, what an incredible journey Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 was! I’ve never played a game quite like it before. The level of immersion is truly something else and has to be seen and heard to be believed. If you’re a fan of narrative-driven adventure games, this is simply a must-play.
After a very slow-paced start to Harold Halibut, I am so glad that I kept on playing and got to see all that this wonderfully crafted game has to offer. Apart from a few pacing issues early on and a few repetitive quests from time to time, I did enjoy my time playing Harold Halibut. The voice actors are all incredible and bring a lot to Harold Halibut. Once the story gets going, you won’t want to stop playing until you see the credits rolling at the end.
Bulwark is unique, the freedom and mission-free experience makes it a very soothing experience. It is unfortunate that there are some downsides but Tomas Sala has created something that can definitely be appreciated. Give it enough time because the beginning can feel a bit slow.
Invector Rhythm Galaxy is the perfect follow-up to an already perfect rhythm game. Its eye-popping visuals light up my living room as its bass lines make my teeth chitter in pure glee. This game makes me happy and that is probably the best praise I can think of.
This minesweeper roguelike swept me away. It took a few runs to get into things, but eventually, it managed to plant its flag into my daily rotation, and I was hooked.
Princess Peach Showtime pirouettes onto the scene, delivering a standing ovation-worthy performance that’s easy enough for kids, but dazzling for all ages, proving you don’t need a mustache to save the day.
Wo Long Fallen Dynasty Complete edition is a masterpiece of a game. I highly recommend it to anyone who is into the likes of Dark Souls, Nioh and even the Devil May Cry series. Wo Long has a lot to offer to those with the patience to persevere and play through to the end and beyond. I feel like the difficulty of the game is just extreme enough to give you a challenge but not enough to make you throw your controller down in frustration. If you are looking for a compelling story with amazing graphics and a wonderful fighting system then look no further.
Alone in the Dark is back, but ultimately falls short of the expectations.
If you enjoy any form of cleanliness or arranging things to fit in place, A Little to the Left could be the perfect game for you to get your hands on. It has soothing capabilities and lets you explore solutions that may not come to mind at first glance. It looks gorgeous, sounds delightful, and played with very few issues – mainly me just missing what the level requires me to do! There is concern with the accessibility but overall, A Little to the Left gave me some much-needed cosy gaming vibes and allowed me to acquire some new visions of just how many ways items can be organised if you take the time to weigh up your options.
With its blend of whimsical humor, clever mechanics, and charming artwork, Lil Guardsman earns its place among this year’s finest indiegames, leaving me eagerly anticipating my eventual return on my quest for completion. If you’re into point & click-style adventures or just enjoy laughing at bizarre situations with even weirder outcomes, then this is a game you shouldn’t miss!
Stunt Paradise is a great little indie game that will provide a few hours worth of fun while you discover its setpiece stunts. I’ve played it together with my two kids and that only added to the enjoyment as seeing them cheer with glee after beating a level is pure bliss.
Please Touch The Artwork 2 is a fun and brief indie that virtually anyone can enjoy, and I can not recommend enough that you give it a go!
Skull and Bones is a naval warfare game in a pirate jacket and not the other way around. All in all, if you expect a full RPG game, you won’t be fully satisfied.
Balatro deals a winning hand with its innovative twist on an age-old formula. It breaks the rules of poker in many fun yet unfair ways, with playthroughs that are as varied as a shuffled deck. It’s a title I can see myself sinking hundreds of hours into and if other 2024 titles hope to have a shot at Game Of The Year, they better up the ante!
Alisa: Developer’s Cut has once again proved that indie survival horror is still very much alive two years later. With its new additions, refined gameplay, and new endings, Alisa not only warrants a second playthrough but demands multiple so you can really experience everything that Casper has crafted. Without a shadow of a doubt, Alisa: Developer’s Cut has been one of my favorite indie games in the last few years.
TEKKEN 8 is a great fighting game, there is a lot of competition in this genre but for me this one stands out as the very best. Graphically it is incredibly beautiful, there are deep tutorials to learn each unique fighter, plenty of single player content. Online there is also plenty to enjoy making TEKKEN 8 definitely a game you can play for hours and hours. Oh yeah, did I mention Tekken Ball is back?
Hidden Through Time 2 is a game that is fun to play in between. I personally would not play it in one piece because it will quickly become repetitive. It’s a very cool experience to play together with multiple people, especially when they shout the phrase “it’s over there” and you still don’t know where that is. This Belgian game is definitely one of the better search games on the console. It looks tremendously fun with its unique visual style and endless gameplay through the community’s created levels.
It has incredible smooth visuals but all the rest is a bit meh.
Trepang2 is a shooter that has taken nice things from Crysis but especially F.E.A.R.
The Xbox community ate good in 2023. We had some amazing releases but nothing compares to the sheer scope and scale that Baldur’s Gate 3 delivers on. I have never played a game that drips with so much detail in every corner. The world is alive with every NPC having something interesting to say. The mechanics are tight, work well, and feature some of the best story-telling in modern-day video games. Baldur’s Gate 3 effortlessly captures the beauty of character development and combines it with the intricate details of DND turn-based combat that will leave engaged right from the very beginning. The choices you make matter and the effects of those choices echo throughout the world of Baldur’s Gate 3, with limitless possibilities and outcomes happening as a result. You simply won’t find a better game.
