Earth Defense Force 5 stands in the face of pretty much every game released these days. It’s the game that doesn’t bother trying to keep up with the Jones’ because it’s happy doing its own thing and being just what it wants to be.

8 / 10.0 - GRIS

Gris may feel sluggish to control at times, but for the most part, you’ll want to take it slow anyway, to take in the game’s beautiful environments.

High-score chasers and leaderboard-savvy players will have lots to love, but those looking for a casual beat ’em up may find themselves turning away at some point.

7 / 10.0 - Just Cause 4

Buy Just Cause 4 if you want to set off epic explosions and simply have fun playing the fool. Don’t buy it if you expect to do that while working your way through its story, because you’ll be sorely disappointed.

Achtung! Cthulhu Tactics is a perfectly fine game. For fans of the turn-based strategy genre, it’s worth adding to your library for its 10+ hours of gameplay. If you’re in it for the story or the Cthulhu universe on the other hand, you’re more likely to be disappointed.

If you happen to still love the Asterix & Obelix franchise, then I suppose Asterix & Obelix XXL 2 is a no-brainer. It’s not a bad game by any means, but it’s certainly not good or genre-defining in any way.

Nevertheless, unless you’re thoroughly sick to death of post-apocalyptia, you’ll find that Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden is a charming, entertaining outing; one that gives the turn-based combat genre a much needed shot in the arm.

For those with a great deal of patience looking for a challenging 2D platformer with huge amounts of character, Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom is great. For everyone else, it’s likely to be frustrating just as often as it is fun, severely putting a dampener on the whole affair.

Katamari Damacy REROLL may not exactly be modern-looking, but it’s still the best that Katamari has ever looked. And hell – it’s just Katamari. What more do you need?

9 / 10.0 - Darksiders III
Dec 6, 2018

Sure, it’s not as polished as the likes of God of War, but I don’t care. When Darksiders III works well, it’s just as entertaining.

6 / 10.0 - The First Tree
Dec 5, 2018

If you’re a fan of meditative adventures such as the likes of Firewatch et al, then there’s some enjoyment to be had in The First Tree. You’re unlikely to get emotionally invested, but its vulpine protagonist and charming visuals may be enough to keep you interested through its short running time.

2 / 10.0 - Fallout 76
Nov 22, 2018

I really hope Fallout 76 is turned around, I really do. I have a lot of respect for Bethesda for publishing quality single player releases such as The Evil Within 2, but Fallout 76 is just dire. It shouldn’t have seen the light of day, and you shouldn’t buy it
