Code of Princess EX is a beat 'em up of a different breed. More bite sized stages and scenarios mean that the action ends right when it ramps up, but the characters and story are what will likely entice players to keep going. This one is more for anime fans than the average gamer.
Despite its shortcomings, Death's Gambit is a strong game and has enough quality to be a possible contender for Indie of the Year. Highly recommended for Dark Souls fans and RPG gamers alike.
Noahmund is a game that lacks polish in many areas, but boasts a new gameplay experience different from a standard RPG. While not everyone may be able to handle its flaws, it is certainly something worth trying despite them.
PLANET ALPHA is an action-adventure platformer you need to play. There is never a dull moment as you run and jump to escape, evade, and avoid enemies, traps, and environmental disasters. PLANET ALPHA is a serious contender in the platforming genre and perhaps raises it to a new standard of excellence.
If you want a challenge to test your mettle, Hypergun is right for you. It combines the randomness of a roguelike with the finesse of an FPS and provides a unique gaming experience. Every level is different, and each one is action-packed and fun.
The Inpatient works quite well by adapting the formula of Until Dawn into a VR title. I just wish it did not play things so safely.
Octopath Traveler is a great game that shows the market still craves what classic JRPGs offer. It innovates in clever ways while keeping the nostalgic heart engaged. The individual stories are well-told but the core narrative never has them intersect in any meaningful way. Still, if you're looking for something to spend plenty of hours pouring yourself into, Octopath is a fun, beautiful way to do it.
Despite industry inundation of roguelite shooters, AIRHEART: Tales of Broken Wings offers a series of uncommon features accompanied by a remarkable grade of polish that should renew interest within those fatigued by the genre. I offer no apologies for the following pun, only for the cliché: Blindflug Studios’ offering here soars above the competition.
On "normal" mode, No Man's Sky describes itself as a chill experience, which is accurate. For the most part, when the planet or the plants or animals aren't trying to kill you, it's a relaxing away-team simulator for 1-4 players. Constantly having to replenish resources and manage your inventory can become tedious, but the wonder and fun experiences can make up for it.
If you enjoy Souls-like games you need to play Salt and Sanctuary. The art style, music, and level design are unique and a joy to experience.
Despite its easy difficulty, Kirby: Star Allies is a great Kirby game for old fans and newcomers alike. Its mix of nostalgia and new content make it truly shine.
Doki Doki Literature Club is a daring game that sets itself up to be something ordinary to intentionally subvert a player's expectations. Even knowing this, the narrative is solid and engaging enough that I'd recommend anyone that can endure a cute dating sim for a couple of hours to try this game out.
Slam Land shows off a lot of potential, but never truly realizes it. It is still a fun and humorous experience with friends, just don’t expect a deep and rewarding experience.
OneShot is a fascinating game that merges creative, fourth-wall-breaking gameplay with a fresh approach to spiritual themes. Its shortcomings hold it back from greatness, but its numerous strengths make it an experience you shouldn't overlook.
Crashlands is a game that I highly recommend with one important caveat: the game is much more fun on a mobile device than on a computer. It's both humorous and smart, with an appealing style and solid gaming mechanics.
City of the Shroud's first chapter boasts intuitive mechanics and witty dialogue, but is held back by a lack of gameplay variety and a story that refuses to commit.
If you want to have great fun with family and friends, you will not be disappointed by Overcooked! 2, a charmingly fun game.
Mugsters takes some time to get going, but once it does, it is a gameplay experience that is immensely fun and rewarding. There may be some faults with the presentation, but overall, it was an enjoyable experience.
Mario Tennis Aces is perfectly suited for quick pick up and play matches on the Switch, whether online or against CPU opponents. It has everything you love about Mario sports games in a fun, attractive package that'll keep you playing for hours.
Enter The Gungeon is the first game that I can firmly say I am addicted to. It is always different, exciting and makes me want to continuously push myself to get good to see everything that the Gungeon has to offer.
