Geeks Under Grace's Reviews

8 / 10.0 - Pool Panic
Aug 1, 2018

Pool Panic is easily one of the the weirdest games I've played in recent memory. It may have that weird Adult Swim art style, but the humor is clean. There is hours of fun to be had for all ages whether you're shooting solo or playing with others in the multiplayer mode.

Way of the Passive Fist is unique among the rest of the brawlers in the genre. Though the experience is mostly entertaining, the rhythmic gameplay can sometimes feel like a chore. Ultimately, the experience will have you reminiscing about the days of action-packed Saturday morning cartoons.

8.5 / 10.0 - Mothergunship
Jul 25, 2018

MOTHERGUNSHIP's frenetic action and inventive, player-designed weaponry ensure you won't ever have a single boring moment playing it. With entertainingly charming presentation and new content already on the horizon, this game doesn't look likely to wear out its welcome any time soon.

Undertale provides an experience unlike anything you'll find in the AAA space. It's a game you shouldn't miss out on, and one that will stay with you long after you've completed it.

Mafia III provides an adequate excuse to reenact the chaos found in your standard sandbox game, but with purpose.

TurtlePop has some great features going for it, but in the end, it's a glorified mobile game on a console that can do much more than this. I am hoping Zengami moves on to bigger and better things from here.

6 / 10.0 - The Lost Child
Jul 9, 2018

The Lost Child is a solid dungeon crawler RPG that doesn't innovate in many areas, but is still fun to play. The repetitive nature of combat and exploration is a shame, but the story should keep you interested to the end.

9 / 10.0 - West of Loathing

Vampyr has a few issues, but its top-notch storytelling and voice work drive a dark, intriguing narrative accentuated by memorable characters and a believable world.

6.5 / 10.0 - Uncanny Valley
Jul 3, 2018

While it delivers on its promise to get back to the roots of survival horror, Uncanny Valley also adds a bit of the tedium from that bygone era. If players are willing to dig and look past some repetition, they'll find a game that makes them think and occasionally scares them well.

Smoke and Sacrifice is a title I am conflicted about. I love the art direction and foreboding atmosphere with clever crafting mechanics, but the poor combat gameplay and unforgiving difficulty are frustrating. If you're intrigued by the premise though, it is definitely worth checking out.

9 / 10.0 - Ancestors Legacy
Jun 26, 2018

Destructive Creations has developed the kind of strategy game that puts upcoming releases like Age of Empires 4 on notice. Ancestor's Legacy raises the bar on the genre through the sheer strength of its production values and single-player content.

Gamers often speak of how videogames should be viewed as an art form and Detroit: Become Human makes a case for that argument with relevant and topical scenarios. Detroit: Become Human is easily Quantic Dream's best game to date and David Cage's ultimate vision come to life.

6.5 / 10.0 - Milanoir
Jun 22, 2018

Milanoir has the potential to be a grat game on the Nintendo Switch, but the aiming mechanics aren't fit for the system, and consistently get in the way. Its revenge plot is also just way to dark and without any redemptive qualities.

8 / 10.0 - Moonlighter
Jun 19, 2018

Moonlighter is a successful attempt at doing something new in the rogue-like genre and I applaud the developers of taking on the task. It's a charming, riveting, and a mostly positive experience that any players looking for something different should check out.
