Destiny has huge highs and huge lows but unfortunately there isn't much to do after you hit the low level-cap, thus causing the game to lose it's luster really fast. It's a good buy for the promised future Bungie has prepared for it but right now, it's a passable shooter that shoots high but never sticks the landing.
Wolfenstein: The New Order is enjoyable experience that I wish lasted a bit longer.
Inquisition is everything I want from an RPG and more. Unfortunately the more is countless hours tedious collectibles and fetch quests. Still, it's the most ambitious Bioware game yet, offering an action packed main quest of around thirty hours, a beautiful world to explore and interesting characters to meet. This comes highly recommended and should be an instant purchase for anyone with the time to spare.
Everything has been improved upon since his adventures in Super Mario 3D World. The game pad does distract from the beauty of the main screen, however it's a worthwhile tradeoff as the new abilities and level types that take advantage of it are a joy to use, it's just a shame about the inability to turn off gyroscopic camera controls for those that don't use them. Regardless, Captain Toad's first solo outing is as golden as the treasure he tracks.
Naturally every Wii U owner should pick this up but old fans should also consider it because it truly is the Mario Kart that you remember.
Uncharted 4 confidently closes the book on the series, and goes out on a high note, without feeling the need to go over-the-top with its conclusion. The things that it does well are much bigger, and much more important than the few niggling things that it – along with its three predecessors – gets wrong. Naughty Dog has increased its powers of misdirection exponentially, advancing the series in its skillful and peerless storytelling, whilst leaving the gameplay more or less unchanged. Thankfully they have not left it untouched, and this is clearly the best – and last – of what is now an unrivaled quartet of games.
Qualms aside, Remedy's return to action gameplay with their refined narrative chops is a concoction that shouldn't be ignored. On the whole, Quantum Break is highly recommended - a welcome exclusive for the Xbox One and breath of fresh air in the AAA space.[Insert time pun here]
The story may be a bit of a let down but the core turn based strategy gameplay is a ton of fun.
If you've any interest in game's as a narrative medium, buy this one. It won't satisfy the gamers that are looking for "twitch gameplay" (Like an FPS), but it's right on the money for everyone else.
An arcade style beat em’ up that offers as much wacky nonsense as it does serious crime drama, this prequel fits in nicely with previous installments. With Yakuza Kiwami (a remake of the original) hopefully arriving this Summer, Yakuza 0 can easily be called the perfect entry point for the series.
Young or old, new player or returning player, Link’s Awakening is a game everyone should experience. I’m happy to have in in my collection next to my original copy of the Game Boy title that I acquired in my youth. Check it out as soon as possible, you will not be disappointed. It is worth every rupee.
Should you buy FIFA 15? Yes. This installment has finally made it's stamp on the next generation with a polished and enjoyable game. It's animations, graphics and AI-to-human reaction is a step up to previous drones and zombies. Pacing of matches, however, lack quickness and buoyancy.
The Vanishing of Ethan Carter is a game you should experience. I just made an ass of myself writing a review like a bad pulp noir because this game really made me feel like an intrepid pulp detective. I was a little disappointed with the short playthrough, but it had such high quality because it was short. Even then, some of it came apart near the end simply because it's hard to keep such high expectations in tact for so long. Buy it, and do your best not to have the answers spoiled for you.
Nuclear Throne revels in its own madness as a twin-stick shooter that could easily stand shoulder to shoulder with any other in the genre. While the repetitive nature of locales does grate after a while, it's still difficult to not come back for one more game time and time again.
A great addition to the Monster Hunter franchise, and something fans of the series will definitely be pleased with while opening the door for handheld players and newcomers.
Bolstered by a supped up engine, Batman: The Telltale Series' first episode, "Realm of Shadows," is their strongest opening episode in years, and the most engaging take on the Caped Crusader in recent superhero adaptation history.
It doesn't reinvent the wheel for the action adventure genre but it is an amazing example of polish and pedigree. If you appreciate the treasure hunting and high-octane action that these types of games offer, then this is a must play.
Overall, the story, world, and gameplay makes for a great open world experience that is held back by its inconsistent range of quality. The game is at its best in these cinematic and atmospheric moments, but is at its lowest when the game sometimes doesn't have an answer to the player's actions. It is hard to say that this game does anything wrong, but nothing much outside of the visuals and combat is truly great.
Overall, Watch Dogs Legion is a ton of fun. There is so much to do and experience in this game and so many different ways to do it. The hacking puzzles are familiar but still fun and sometimes challenging. The real star of this game is the variety of characters you can recruit and the backstories that come with them.
While it does have some originality issues, the game succeeds in its mission: to give us a great Viking game experience in the world of the AC franchise. Great strides were made making this game the best out of the series.
