8 / 10 - Jydge
Oct 20, 2017

JYDGE is a very fun sorta-prequel to Neon Chrome that is a good upgrade over said game thanks to its handcrafted levels and great replay value. Sure, it has its focus set on the speedrunning community, but thanks to its difficulty settings it offers something for players of all skill levels. If you're looking for a new action shooter on PS4 and don't mind some violence and gore here and there, then you should check out JYDGE!

In the end, Touhou Kobuto V: Burst Battle is a fun fighter with some depth past the bullet-hell nature of its battles. Sure, the graphics are nothing to write home about and the game's music could have used some extra variety, but battles (especially against human opponents) are interesting and different from other games out there. In the end, this is a budget release at $29.99, and it offers more than enough content to justify that price tag. If after checking out the game's trailer and reading this review you think the game is not for you, then it's probable that nothing will change your mind.

If you're looking for a simple and short platformer on Nintendo Switch, this one certainly fits the bill. It's a small budget indie release with good replay value and it will certainly be a fun diversion for your kids, nieces/nephews or your friends' kids. Since it's $2.99, I definitely recommend this one.

7 / 10 - Pankapu
Oct 19, 2017

The bright and distinct visuals are incredibly appealing and the audio is pretty decent, too, which really helps Pankapu sink its claws into you as you play. It really channels the ‘one more go' type of play, and this is why I would recommend the game. Sure, it's not original in its gameplay mechanics, but it's just a solid, good game that harkens back to the days of playability being key.

While the game is a familiar affair, in terms of play and story arc, it's really quite a treat. Some of the visuals are amazing and while the grinding will put off some players, for those who really enjoy the time invested to power up their characters, it's worth the run. I also have to point out that whether you're familiar with the comic book the game is based on or not, it really doesn't matter, and I thoroughly recommend Battle Chasers: Nightwar without hesitation.

8 / 10 - Lightfield
Oct 18, 2017

Although racing is not my thing, I definitely recommend the game. Despite the high speed, gameplay is easy to get the hang of, and you can tell the developers put a lot of hard work into the environments and the controls so that everything feels just right. Lightfield is a fun racing+parkour game, and I look forward to seeing what the team does next.

8 / 10 - Expand
Oct 17, 2017

To truly appreciate what Chris Johnson and Chris Larkin have created in Expand, you have to approach it as an experience, not a game. It's not a puzzler that wants to challenge the deepest of your skills, it wants you to navigate around it, forgetting about all the stress that's around you. So if relaxing games are your thing, if you have enjoyed games like Flower for example, then this one is a must-have release for your library.

Etrian Odyssey V: Beyond the Myth is a solid entry in the series and one you have to play on Nintendo 3DS. Its gameplay remains as fun as ever, and this fifth entry in the franchise is one of the best games on Nintendo's portable. If you're still on the fence then you should definitely check out the free demo for the game since it allows you to get started with access to all characters and classes, and if you decide to buy the game then your progress will transfer – you'll get to play up to the 3rd floor with a level cap of 10 for your adventurers.

If you like survival horror games, then you have to pick up Red Candle Games' and Coconut Island Games' Detention. With its great art-style and great setup, this is one that definitely warrants a playthrough. And when you add the successfully achieved horror aspect of the game, it becomes the kind of game that everybody should experience. I'm hoping they build on the success of this game to get us an even bigger sequel!

6 / 10 - VR Ping Pong
Oct 16, 2017

Overall, I enjoyed playing the game despite the few problems that came with it. My favorite thing in the whole game is certainly Arcade Mode, and my least favorite thing with this one is the freezing problem. If you like ping pong, then you might get something good out of this PS VR release since it's not so bad, but be aware that the tracking of the PlayStation Camera and the Move controllers does feel a bit of every now and then – rather clunky until you get the hang of things.

If you're a fan of walking simulators, then Leaving Lyndow is a short game in which you'll experience a bittersweet moment in Clara's life. It can be completed in less than two hours at most, so do keep that in mind if you're considering getting it.

Overall, I definitely recommend that you get the Universal Classics Pinball Pack since all three tables are very enjoyable. For me, Jaws is the weak one in the trio, but it definitely does some interesting things to rightfully gain its right to be included in a pack of classic Universal movies.

8 / 10 - Vostok Inc.
Oct 12, 2017

Vostok Inc. is an interesting game that mixes two genres with great success. It is a very addictive release, and once you play, it will end up sucking you in. The gameplay might be a bit repetitive, but there is a lot to do as you aim at getting that shiny Platinum trophy for your collection. The game is very affordable, and it's definitely a unique experience, so you should certainly check it on PS4.

Apart from the odd mishap the game / horror experience is OK. I do believe that the team should have concentrated more on the VR side of the things rather than having this be a PS4 and PS VR game in one. Having said that, it's a nice effort by the developers at playing with your senses, but overall I think there are too many horror experiences on PS VR.

9 / 10 - Light Tracer
Oct 11, 2017

The graphics are nicely done, and the princess is a delight to move around thanks to some smooth animation. I liked how the background music changes for each level, with an eclectic mix of genres that end up fitting the mood of the game. All in all Light Tracer is a fabulous take on the platforming genre on PlayStation VR, managing to immerse the player into a new thoroughly enjoyable immersive puzzle adventure.

SteamWorld Dig 2 is everything I wanted from a sequel to SteamWorld Dig and then some. It's even more addictive than the first one, bigger, more dynamic, colorful and charming. Once you get started it will be hard to put this one down, so be ready for hours and hours of fun!

Overall the game is very fun, and a worthy addition to the Neptunia franchise. There's a very fun story to experience, lots of dungeons to visit and quests to complete, and plenty of fun jokes at the expense of the MMORPG genre that will make you smile during your time with the game. If you're looking for a solid hack and slash with your beloved Neptunia characters, then this is exactly what you need.

With all its immersive graphical beauty, The Solus Project is a great survival experience game. While it does have some bugs, it is an immersive experience that looks great on PS VR – there is something great about standing on the beach watching a meteor shower or jumping into a pool of water in pitch black darkness. There is so much to explore that you'll be spending many hours on this alien planet.
