9 / 10 - Light Tracer
Oct 11, 2017

The graphics are nicely done, and the princess is a delight to move around thanks to some smooth animation. I liked how the background music changes for each level, with an eclectic mix of genres that end up fitting the mood of the game. All in all Light Tracer is a fabulous take on the platforming genre on PlayStation VR, managing to immerse the player into a new thoroughly enjoyable immersive puzzle adventure.

SteamWorld Dig 2 is everything I wanted from a sequel to SteamWorld Dig and then some. It's even more addictive than the first one, bigger, more dynamic, colorful and charming. Once you get started it will be hard to put this one down, so be ready for hours and hours of fun!

Overall the game is very fun, and a worthy addition to the Neptunia franchise. There's a very fun story to experience, lots of dungeons to visit and quests to complete, and plenty of fun jokes at the expense of the MMORPG genre that will make you smile during your time with the game. If you're looking for a solid hack and slash with your beloved Neptunia characters, then this is exactly what you need.

With all its immersive graphical beauty, The Solus Project is a great survival experience game. While it does have some bugs, it is an immersive experience that looks great on PS VR – there is something great about standing on the beach watching a meteor shower or jumping into a pool of water in pitch black darkness. There is so much to explore that you'll be spending many hours on this alien planet.

9 / 10 - Pinball FX3

I'm currently working on my review for the Universal Classics Pinball Pack, so be sure to stick around at PS4Blog.net to see if its three tables are a worthy addition to the Zen Studios legacy.

9 / 10 - Splasher
Oct 6, 2017

While Splasher is not revolutionizing the genre and clearly has a hard to ignore nod or two to the lead's past projects, Splashteam has done an incredible job in creating this platformer. The game plays great, is beautiful to look at, and has more than enough challenges to take replay value to the top. It's the best platformer I played in the last couple of years, the last one probably being Rayman Legends (which we reviewed a few years ago), and I truly hope the success of this game will give us a sequel in the future!

9 / 10 - Transcripted
Oct 6, 2017

Transcripted is an original release that crosses over two other great releases: Geometry Wars and Zuma (which is a game I played A. LOT!), and it works in the end! We liked the underlying story, and navigating in the different environments. For the asking price of $8, this is a release you should keep under your radar!

Graceful Explosion Machine is a fast-paced and action-packed release that is highly addictive. You'll end up returning over and over again to each level as you first aim to get A grades in all of them before you move up to getting an S rank on them from near-perfect start-to-finish runs in each level, building up massive combos as you avoid being hit by enemies. There's plenty of content here and a nice variety of enemies to make this one an easy game to recommend on PS4.

So if you can get past the practically naked girls, the story is very amusing and over the top. And if you're a fan of the franchise then you're definitely going to love what this one has to offer! The change of pace from the regular gameplay mechanics of the main SENRAN KAGURA is interesting, and the fast-paced arena arcade action will suck you in. Are you ready for a fight?

We really liked playing through of Planet of the Eyes. Other than a small complaint about how the game is a bit on the short side, which is not a deal-breaker, we both enjoyed its looks, fun platforming, and puzzles. The audio logs made this a very entertaining release that we highly recommend. You might be able to complete the game in 1-2 hours at most, but it does mean that there is no unnecessary content just to extend the total gameplay time for no reason. Be sure to check this game out!

8 / 10 - Nidhogg 2
Oct 4, 2017

Nidhogg 2 is a game that you're either going to “get” or won't. There's a lot of deep to what at first might seem like a shallow release, but you need to give it some time before it wins you over. Playing with friends is a great way to speed up this process, so I'd suggest you do that after completing at least one full run of the single player campaign (which shouldn't take you more than 40-50 minutes). If you liked the first game then you're going to love the gameplay for this one, although you might not like the change in the game's visuals.

Overall there is plenty of content in X-Morph: Defense, as well as a fun gameplay foundation, that makes it an easy game to recommend. The graphics are great with a lot of attention to detail, with explosions that carry some weight and oomph. EXOR Studios have given us a very fun and action-packed release on PS4, and I look forward to seeing what the team does next.

As the season progresses, I'm thinking more and more that the admin is going to be the ultimate nemesis to Jesse. He's evil, but then again has a cartoonish villain charm in the way he acts. I can't wait to play the next episode!

Burly Men at Sea is a unique experience, and I loved playing through the different branches to experience the whole adventure. If you like unique releases, do not hesitate to pick it up – I'm sure you'll like it. The $10 price tag might feel a little steep, but it's definitely worth it, especially since the game is cross-buy so getting it on PlayStation Vita gets you the PlayStation 4 version as well and vice-versa.

I really liked Blue Reflection for the changes it made to the RPG system, eliminating grinding for character progression is an interesting way to respect the characters time. I do wish the game was a bit harder since it felt like the focus was in the story (which is a good story) with battles as a mean to have some gameplay between the other sections. But other than that, if you are a fan of RPGs, then this is a good one to try.

White Day: A Labyrinth Named School is an entertaining horror game that hits all the right notes. There's plenty of content to experience, not to mention several difficulty settings so that players of all skill levels can enjoy its story and setting. If you're looking for a horror game on PS4 to scratch that itch, then you definitely need to check this one out!

8 / 10 - Maize
Sep 28, 2017

Maize is certainly a weird first-person exploration game – a walking simulator is what some would call it – but a fun one with a dry sense of humor and visuals that get the job done (if you play on a PS4 Pro you'll notice some extra bells and whistles here and there. What really shines during your playthrough is the great voice acting in the game which elevates the overall experience. If you're looking for a walking simulator with a bizarre premise, then you should give Maize a try.

6 / 10 - Drive Girls
Sep 25, 2017

Drive Girls is a weird release, and while I congratulate Aksys Games for bringing it over here, in the end, I can't help but wonder how this game will be received by gamers this late in the PlayStation Vita life. The gameplay is hard to pick up, and the camera was unhelpful due to the lack of an auto-targeting system. The races, which are the other part of the game, feel too long and take place on bland tracks. The fan-service will certainly make some gamers happy, but this release is definitively not for everyone.
