Demon's Souls is the perfect example of how new hardware can take an existing game to the next level. The estic is at its peak and the horsepower of the Playstation 5 makes the world more engaging. But above all, the super-fast charging times help balance an already ultra-difficult combat system.

Sackboy: A Big Adventure scraps creation mode from the main series to focus wholeheartedly on platform hopping. Some courses such as the rhythm-based are brilliant, but despite the improved control, the vast majority are too light and slow for the experienced player. And in addition to the Dual Sense features, there are also no real "next gen" details that stand out.

With its mere ten hours, Spider-Man: Miles Morales, however, is an easy-to-finish story. The story never reaches the depth of the original and the side missions are fewer this time. In addition, the really impressive boss fights are conspicuous by their absence, even though Miles has an even greater range of skills at his disposal.

The loving restoration together with well-chosen news makes Tony Hawk 'Pro Skater 1 + 2 feel exactly like before and completely new at the same time.

Sometimes the course of events may be a little predictable, and sometimes a little too shallow. In a mystery-edged, dialogue-driven game, it is a difficult balancing act to decide how far to follow the various stories. The road to dissolution is also relatively short and we would have preferred a fourth chapter that allowed us to dig a little deeper in different places. We want more! Because under the three hundred note, you get an entertaining mystery to solve and put your own stamp on. The fact that Microsoft also allows the game to be included in Game Pass makes the acquisition issue an even bigger no-brainer. Tell Me Why is one of the most touching games of the year so far that will have your full attention from start to finish.

Ghost of Tsushima is Sucker Punch Production's most ambitious game yet and it's something that permeates the whole adventure. It's a real samurai epic that balances well between action-packed segments and story-driven adventure. An adventure where we ourselves get to choose the style of play at our own pleasure and that always offers more to explore when we think we've seen it all.

The Last of Us Part 2 is more than just an action game with narrative elements. It's a long, tumultuous story that keeps us amazed. A journey that shows on the most unpleasant aspects of humanity, but which nevertheless needs to be exposed. That's why The Last of Us Part 2 is the most important game of the year.

Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition is an improved version of a 10-year-old role-playing game, originally launched for the Nintendo Wii. It is possible to discuss whether the upgrade is sufficient on all fronts, but at least we get a bit finer environments, new music, improved character models and more thoughtful menus – and not least a whole new chapter. But above all, we get a role-playing game that, if you can forgive some outdated details, even today is one of the best the genre has to offer.

Final Fantasy VII Remake is all we expected and a little more. The premise is the same as in 1997, but there is still plenty of new material for those who want to explore more of the metropolis of Midgar and its inhabitants. Many elements are also more contemporary, such as combat systems and storylines, which makes the return visit extra pleasant.

Initially, we were somewhat skeptical of the game. We had high expectations and were bored by the repetitive tasks. After about five hours in, however, something happens with the game. The animal crossing spirit engulfs us and we reach for the console as soon as we get the chance. Not to put us in hours, but just to check the situation on our island for a few minutes at a time. It's a game that we don't love intensely, but that follows us through the days of what we suspect for a long time to come.

But that's why we're also hesitant to recommend Dreams to exactly everyone. The novelty's pleasure settles quickly for those who do not have time to mecca with the dream project full time. After a few days, we've seen all the Super Mario clones available. And then we can see that exactly everyone is in production. The "Beta feeling" permeates most of what is uploaded. Although creators have mastered the tools much better than at the early access release.

A journey that affects the entire emotional spectrum and that makes us reflect far beyond the final texts. But above all, an experience that once again confirms Hideo Kojima's position as one of the foremost and most multifaceted artists in this industry.

Despite the single-trackness, the journey itself is filled with wonderful side characters, colorful enemies and a certain mystery not found in other Zelda games. We can almost explain it as a small resort, a place where we can sit back and recover the forces after the hard fight against Ganon in Breath of the Wild.

Astral Chain is a different take on Platinum Games' proven formula, so much so that it still deserves to be given a chance if you're a fan of their previous works. Although the battles never quite reach the same level of finesse and variety as in Bayonetta, there are still a couple of opportunities in the game that are really close. Especially during confrontations with the bigger bosses.

Iceborne is a massive addition to an already giant, vibrant Monster Hunter world. Anyone who played through and appreciated Monster Hunter World simply has zero reason not to invest in Iceborne.

Puritans who were discouraged by their predecessor can thus breathe peacefully. Fire Emblem: Three Houses shows that the series is back on its feet again, better than ever.

The question that every Final Fantasy fanatic asks is probably whether it's worth taking on all the extra obstacles, just to experience another epic adventure. As an online role-playing game, it requires a standard monthly subscription and each individual expansion also has its price. Looking past that detail, Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers is yet another excellent game in the series, albeit a little too suited to online gaming to attract exactly all puritans.

Since we took our first steps in Avalanche Studios' vision of doom, we have found it difficult to put control aside. The combination of open world, mutant freaks and superpowers is far too entertaining, actually well above our expectations. Sure, some routes get reasonably tragic sometimes, but what does it do when the world is otherwise as complete as it is? Along with the eminent control and dynamic battles, it makes Rage 2 one of the most addictive titles of the year so far.
