To wrap it all up, I am very much enchanted by this game. It is not without its flaws, for certain, but I didn't find any that broke the game or my appreciation and excitement for it. I feel that the step that Ubisoft Quebec took to make this experience more immersive and personal for gamers was a strong move, and they did it with style and a competence that greatly benefits the game as a whole. If these are the kind of evolutions we have to look forward to in the future, I eagerly await the next releases from them. Until then, go forth and let the drachmae roll in.
Overall, I enjoyed my time with All-Star Fruit Racing. I'll admit, it initially gave me a bad impression. The combination of a 50-second long initial loading time (I timed it!), a music-less and boring tutorial, and the awkward inane witch's laugh that persists throughout a race while I'm playing all led me to a preconceived idea about this game. The more I discovered, like how the creepy laugh was apparently my car horn and how I could customize it to sound more like a real horn, all led me on a journey through a magical Fruit-kingdom of fun kart-racing goodness. Unfortunately, the unintuitive U.I. and overall poor polish of the game detract from an otherwise delightful experience. Races felt too unfair one moment, and ridiculously too easy the next.
Despite its flaws, I appreciate Death's Gambit and what it has accomplished. It offers a challenging, story-driven platforming experience that will reward the patient and methodical. Wrapped in a beautiful pixel art veneer and topped with a wonderful soundtrack, Death's Gambit is a treat for those willing to spend the time to master its combat and enemies. Will it appeal to everyone, absolutely no! However, much like games like Dark Souls, I don't really think that's the point.
Porting to Nintendo Switch is perfect for Little Dragons Cafe as it reads like a charming children's storybook fit for any age. Although gameplay feels like it's in a loop quite quickly, the characters are memorable and the artwork nothing short of awe-inspiring. The pace of this game may also be very slow for some though I have no doubt parents across the globe would appreciate this pace especially on those extra long road trips. All in all, there is nothing to hate about Little Dragon's Cafe but there is definite room for improvement.
I rather enjoyed The King's Bird. There is definitely a magic to it and a draw that I found compelling, and found it was just as enjoyable to watch as to play as you find yourself drawn into the actions and struggles of whoever is playing, sharing in the "oohs" and "ahs" as they come oh so close or pull off an unexpectedly complex maneuver. Taking turns as a family has turned out to be a very enjoyable family activity.
If there's any real "downside" to The Messenger, it's that its music and effects can be repetitive, but well... that's nitpicking. At its core, this game is damn-near perfection of the 2D action-platforming genre. Humorous writing, great boss fights, well-thought-out level design, and challenging but not painful execution make The Messenger a must-have for any Switch owner.
Divinity: Original Sin 2 Definitive Edition is more than just a port. Within, Larian has rewritten and reworked massive pieces to address players concerns and make it the best version yet of an already excellent turn-based RPG.
Two Point Hospital is the perfect building simulator that has liberal amounts of humor, cute interactions and progression that allows a sense of urgency we always look for in a game. I have found each hospital a challenge that felt satisfying when I reached level 3 in each one. Two Point Hospital surprised me with how attached I became to accomplishing saving patients and keeping my hospitals vomit and ghost free. The staff interaction, training and break allocation kept me on my toes but I think what made me laugh the most because I wasn't expecting it was the clowns. Anyone who knows me well knows I hate clowns but even I appreciated building them multiple "dehumorfiers" so they were looked after well. Being able to pick up staff and plonk them wherever they were needed really does end up feeling like Janitor chess at times and that's ok with me!
Ultimately, Planet Alpha is a visual feast, featuring a fantastical sci-fi world and backed by a hauntingly atmospheric musical score. While it's an old tale that treads over familiar ground, there's plenty of new tricks to make it a rewarding playthrough.
Overall, you will find yourself fully immersed in your gameplay. I fully intend to continue playing the career mode, because it gives me a sense of satisfaction from being able to get better or worse while in the game.

Overall, this year's game is one of the better ones that I have played in years. With the inclusion of voice acting for your main character in career mode, to the showcase mode taking one of my favorite wrestlers, Daniel Bryan, and walking through his career, it makes for a really fun and good time. They really worked on making a lot of different modes for people to have a lot of fun with, and it seems to be working, for me at least.
Grip is a nerve-fraying distillation of speed, fury, and thumping techno beats. Created by Caged Element, Grip: Combat Racing takes the ideas that made Rollcage such an intense experience and drives them onto the Nintendo Switch, XBox One PlayStation 4, and PC. If you like speed but find Bugatti's a bit bland, this one might be for you.
I recommend giving this game a try if you love space exploration and some funny interactions with aliens. Being able to roam around on planets has been a new and interesting experience with all the different weather effects. Also to be noted and as you can see from some of the screenshots, this game has some beautiful artwork as well as great music. With so many different customization options this there is a lot of replayability. Again, if this all sounds like something up your alley give it a try let me know what you think down below. Overall the two halves of the game fit together very well and combine to make an interesting game. Clearing out the dungeons can occasionally feel a bit grindy because I often had to do part of it over and over before I was able to get all the way through it. There's even a bit of a town management aspect as well. Additionally, there is even a bit of a story about these dungeons which is uncovered as you explore more of them and find various items. The story for the most part is sort of to the side and not the main thing, but it is interesting.
Hipster Attack is an entertaining and addicting tower defense game. It has just enough call back to its inspiration while adding the right options to differentiate itself
Elder Scrolls Online: Summerset is an exciting new chapter for the MMO. It offers an engaging narrative that kept this progression driven gamer distracted which is saying a lot. Although the expansion didn't offer a new class we were introduced to a pretty fun new skill tree and despite the grind to unlock it, it offers some great new approaches to combat. With a beautiful new zone, intriguing story and only a few minor grievances, I highly recommend picking up Summerset.
Icey delivers a fantastic 2D brawler with satisfying combos and hard-hitting combat. It's multi-branching paths give you more story with the meta-narrative, but doesn't quite flesh out all of the parts into a cohesive whole. But, at the end of the day, we play beat'em ups to do just that.
If you are predisposed toward the infernal if you enjoy the gory and the journey this game might be for you. If you are looking for solid gameplay and perpetual darkness is an issue, then you will see more devils than this vast hell can hold.
