Overall World of Final Fantasy is a solid game that's entertaining and offers a lot of different things to do in the game. Longtime fans of Final Fantasy will enjoy the many callouts to past games but the game itself doesn't hinge on this. The story takes a while to get interesting, but the best parts of the game have nothing to do with the story at all. It's ideal for anyone just looking for a fun game to play. It's a great game for Final Fantasy fans, and fans of JRPGs, though unlike Pokemon Let's Go, it's not going to be super easy for younger kids to get the most out of a complex battle and leveling system.

As much as I love playing Diablo 3 on my PC, the Eternal Collection on Switch may very well be my new preferred way to play - nothing beats lounging in bed, romping through a rift with the light out while I should be sleeping - all thanks to Nintendo Switch and Blizzard Entertainment.

The Switch version may not have all the pretty bells and whistles that you find on its big brother consoles or the PC but it fulfills a sense of nostalgia for the original that the others didn’t. Maybe it was the 30fps lock or downplayed graphics but the Switch’s Dark Soul feels more authentic in nearly every way and marks another outstanding port to the Switch lineup.

Bandai-Namco hasn't deviated from their formula of arena fighters that follow strict, already told storylines, with simplistic gameplay mechanics that are hidden under flashy animations and combo counters. While there is much to love about the character designs and reliving some vital moments from the anime series fans have come to love, there just isn't that much substance to hold players captivated for any extended period of time. The animations are impressive, the sound and feel of the menus and characters rings true. Unfortunately there just isn't enough unique content that will entrance players to continue playing after the novelty has worn off.

If you like challenging strategy and don't mind learning the game's systems and unit counters, The Legend of Evil is a light-hearted spoof on classic hero versus evil tropes.

At its core, At Sundown is an entertaining indie game that is fast-paced and fun without requiring a hefty system to run it. Its main game mechanic of using light and shadows is interesting, but the lack of ability to see where your player is can stifle the enjoyment of the game itself.

Football Manager 2019 is the best the series has ever been but also the most complex. Your love of the beautiful game will dictate just how much enjoyment you get from this one or instead opt for its mobile brother Football Manager Touch. Now please excuse me, I have a suit to don and an FA Cup to win.

6.5 / 10.0 - Gal Metal
Jun 13, 2018

A group of high school students, an alien attack, and Metal. Gal Metal is a unique rhythm based game that mixes metal with a free form playstyle, from DMM Games. Nothing could quite have prepared us for this as we defend earth from certain doom.

Mutant Football League is the only football game on the Switch this year, and we're lucky it's a fun one despite all its warts. If you can handle its quirks, and want a football game that doesn't take itself too seriously, this one is for you. It also helps that it's half the price of that Madden guy's game, if you're counting.

Overall, Overkill's The Walking Dead is a game that got better after release. It is currently priced at $60 USD. To me, this is a really high price considering how little you can do in the game. Each area is basically rinse and repeat of different missions. Currently, the game is available for PC, with an Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 release set for next year in February. It may be a good idea to wait for a sale on this one unless you really want to play the Walking Dead. Personally, if this game was like Dying Light, with the open world feels and different areas set up in that manner, then this would be a 10 rated game. As it is instanced areas of stop walkers from invading your base, to find the family, to oh the family is raiding you, it seems pretty much the same.

Overall Total War: Warhammer II – Curse of the Vampire Coast delivers a delicious deep dive into the Legendary Lords of the Vampire Coast. With its unique victory conditions and mechanics that scream YAAARRR, it's a welcome addition to the Total War: Warhammer universe and well worth your time and money.

4 / 10.0 - Steel Rats
Jun 13, 2018

Steel Rats ultimately ends up being a good platforming game idea marred by unfortunate controls and physics, Combine that with a storyline that seems to be trying too hard to be taken seriously and you're left with almost no driving reason to play other than stubbornness, which does not really equate to fun.

Overall, the new Space Race DLC is pretty cool. There aren't any graphical updates or anything like that, and honestly, the game doesn't need them because it is pretty solid as it is. The new additional sponsors and other additions to the game are far more than enough to get you even more excited about playing the game.

Overall, the Farming Simulator series is one that a lot of people are very fond of, especially with Farming Simulator 2017. With 2019 I believe all of those people are going to make the transition and find a whole new love for the series. The game is available on 11/20/18. Go out there and farm your hearts out, everyone!

Wasteland 2 is right in line with some of the more recent "Classic RPGs" we've seen making a comeback. If you enjoy the likes of Divinity: Original Sin and adore the idea of that sort of game in a post-apocalyptic world, then this one's for you. It's loaded with content, has a ton of replay value, and unlike many modern RPGs, it really lets you customize your entire experience. Recommended.

7.5 / 10.0 - Armello
Jun 12, 2018

Back in 2015, League of Geeks launched a Kickstarter for a visceral, turn-based game full of anthropomorphized animals. Now, the Australian indie team brings Armello to the Nintendo Switch for those of us on the go. Join a range of animal characters as they fight, scheme, and scurry their way to the throne in a highly acclaimed table top interpretation. This is our review of Armello on Nintendo Switch.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is likely to go down as the best game of the generation. Rockstar has outdone themselves, delivering one of the biggest, richest, most engrossing open world games ever made. Whether you're an action fan, RPG fan, open world fan, or just want a great story, RDR2 has something for everyone.

If you like strategy games and are really into ancient Japanese legends, Haunted Dungeon: Hyakki Castle takes art and story from the Edo period to create a unique strategy game. While it was not entirely my speed (it does put the crawl in "dungeon crawl"), it is a break from the frantic pacing of many dungeon crawlers with a central mechanic adds creative possibilities to puzzle solving and combat.

Black Ops 4 brings a lot of changes to the series. Whether or not they're good changes is a personal choice. I found them mostly great changes. I like the promotion of teamwork. Making specialists that synergize with each other to get you to work as a team takes the game to another level altogether. While its not all praise, the game does have some downfalls. The maps and servers need some work, but overall the game plays amazingly well. The game is highly optimized for performance, with the exception of the low 20Hz tick rate. I expect great things to come for Black Ops 4!

7 / 10.0 - Madden NFL 19
Jun 12, 2018

At the end of the day, Madden 19 is much like Madden 18 before it. The formula works, so I don't blame EA for not wanting to drastically change it up each year. However, as a result, I'm left wondering whether it's a waste for someone who really doesn't play most of Madden's modes to upgrade to 19 this year - and I would say that answer is no. If all you play are a few exhibition games with friends, last year's installment is perfectly fine. However, if you're invested in the Longshot story and want to latest installment of MUT, Madden 19 isn't a bad pick up.
