Garage: Bad Trip is every 1980s action horror flick power fantasy wrapped up in a bloody retroware wrapper. It tries to balance it's graphic gore with classic tropes and it's suspense with moments of the ridiculous, but leans heavily into its Splatterpunk influences. While its controls are tight for a twin stick shooter, Garage: Bad Trip has some mechanical bugs which diminish the overall experience.
If you want to play a worthy successor to the long line of Metroidvania classics and are willing to experience rogue-like difficulty to get it, Dead Cells is an experience worth having over and over again.
Forsaken is by far the best expansion Bungie has released to date. It offers some great storytelling, fun new subclasses, and weapons, reworks some existing systems to make content more accessible and has even progressed in making the whole experience fun. Despite still trying to find the sweet spot with endgame grinding, Destiny 2 Forsaken is worth the purchase price and offers fans of the series a satisfying experience from start to finish.
Billed as the worlds least realistic pool simulator, Pool Panic is developed by indie team Rekim, and happens to be the epitome of how Adult Swim do games. From Robot Unicorn Attack to Battle Chef Brigade, Just as individual as the Adult Swim's TV programming, Pool panic takes a clear cue from this. Looking like a mash-up of the Mr. Men, Cuphead, and Rick & Morty, Pool Panic is a wonderfully anarchic work of 2D animation.
Ys: Memories of Celceta releases July 25, 2018, for Steam Users and you will be able to get right into the action with this new iteration of the game. Join other RPG players as they take to the forest and try to discover its secrets and restore Adol's lost memories.
Airheart is a touching, beautiful game that starts off excitedly but quickly loses it's momentum unless you enjoy excessive amounts of repetitive content.
Varenje does resemble a game that can be easily enjoyed by anyone, and with the first episode being free on steam, it sure accentuates the ability for anyone to pick it up and play it. With light puzzle content and a collection click-adventure game style, it doesn't require fast reaction times or exceptional dexterity from the player. While the story is largely uncomplimentary to the game-style, for appropriately aged gamers, Varenje can still be an enjoyable diversion for the puzzle minded gamer.
Few stories in games can successfully make me hate the "protagonist" and at the same time draw me compulsively further into the events and plot twists. Paired up with the simplistic and impressionistic art of the story frames, the atmosphere and the complexity of the intertwining yet opposing factions bandying for influence over hopelessly corrupt Jack Boyd and you have a Noir story set in the 80's that could rival the classics.
Overall Anamorphine is a touching and interesting story which is infinitely relatable. I wish the storytelling had been a bit more varied and I hadn't had my issue with motion sickness. All of that said, if you enjoy narrative exploration games this is a good one to check out.
If you are looking for a deep Metroidvania game that will challenge you with hours of gameplay, La-Mulana 2 is worth checking out. It is a faithful recreation of the classic genre while telling a fresh story. The characters within have a fun sense of humor that will keep you entertained in the midst of the action. Even though the controls are not perfect, after a few hours of play, I found them less frustrating over time.
If you're a fan of this type of game I'd recommend checking it out or if you're just curious to see what happens when the story becomes influenced by the whole community.
With a light hearted presentation for children of all ages, well rendered graphics on both the PC and Switch versions, and a few rockin' audio tracks that don't get bothersome after repeatedly hearing them,
A roguelike twin-stick shooter with ARPG elements, indie developer Lizard King is punching well above its weight class with Enlightenment. The blending of multiple genres ensures a wide range of tastes will be satisfied with the gameplay. While the heavy use of RNG creates an inconsistent difficulty to each run, the carry over of character progression from one life to the next means every failed run contributes to your advancement.
All in all, I found the game to be interesting, and that there are few real action incidents the awkwardness of the avatar movements could objectively be viewed as another way to enforce the idea that the world is out of kilter.
Flood of Light is a brain-teasing, puzzling, platformer that will give you hours of enjoyment and brain pains, in a good way. You will feel yourself being tested as you go from level to level, and you will feel good about solving these puzzles when you are done.
While the game is random, and there are characters, abilities and weapon attachments to unlock, the repetitiveness of the gameplay will eventually wear out its welcome. Fortunately for Hypergun, the challenges presented are more than enough to keep players entertained for dozens of hours.
The more you practice The Golf Club 2019, the better you'll get. Not only will you feel better once you hit the links, but you might also find yourself competent and skilled enough to actually finish (and hopefully win!) an entire round! From there, the rest is history. The Golf Club 2019 is a winner in my book and certainly a game that fans of golf sims and realistic sports games will treasure for years to come.
Overall, Immortal: Unchained is a very good game in my opinion. It has a great mix of difficulty, RPG, and a story that will make me want to continue playing this game until I have beaten it. I have spent several hours in the game and love the level design and the gameplay itself. The game itself comes in at $49.99 USD and is now available on PC through Steam, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
Megaquarium is everything you expect from a building sim the added bonus of camera movement that enhances your entire experience.
Stock cars are not nearly as sexy as other high-performance racing machines, but that doesn't mean they aren't fun to drive. While nothing has been done to improve on last year's graphics, a full dirt track series and fleshed out career mode are welcome editions in NASCAR Heat 3. There is plenty of bumping and grinding, but gamers of all skill levels will find a difficulty setting to suit their abilities, so strap in and put the pedal to the metal!
