The Games Machine's Reviews

Feb 12, 2016

The Following is a powerful and well-made expansion, if considered individually, or an even gigantic experience if purchased with the full game, in the Enhanced Edition. The introduction of the Buggy does not obscure the gameplay of Dying Light but is still very well cared for, as well as consistent with the original spirit.

Day of the Tentacle Remastered is a Mr. Game, able both to please the old grumblers like me, and to bring younger players closer to a genre that has unfortunately become niche. The very pleasant designs, combined with a story as crazy as it is magnificent, help to throw the latest work of Double Fine directly into our carts. Are you ready to take a journey through time?

8.7 / 10.0 - Quantum Break
Apr 1, 2016

Quantum Break is unfortunately not the savior of the Xbox One homeland, a role that I don't think it has ever aspired to. That said, Remedy's new work is excellent from many points of view, particularly when the spotlight is put on the storytelling and the hatching of the characters, two things that the house of Sam Lake can do very well and that here were even more complicated to bring home successfully, given the slippery terrain of temporal paradoxes on which the plot continually rests its foundations. The action phases are also embellished with good ideas, but automatic coverages generate problems too frequently for them not to be taken into account in the judgment phase. I also appreciated the good integration between the parts played and the episodes of the TV series: a combination that almost unexpectedly works great, probably due to the aforementioned experience of Remedy in knowing how to tell good stories, as well as for the skill. of the actors involved.

9.4 / 10.0 - Dark Souls III
Apr 4, 2016

Among the best results of Dark Souls 3 is the clear distinction between greater accessibility and substance below the surface, in the face of a very difficult, long and intricate adventure like any good Souls must be.

Hands down, Uncharted 4 is the best title ever developed by Naughty Dog, and not just because of the stunning graphics. A wonderful balance between storytelling and gameplay, even better than the previous installments, pushing the boundaries of engagement and sheer fun. There’s no better way to say it: if you own a PlayStation 4, you must play this game.

9.1 / 10.0 - Doom
May 17, 2016

DOOM is back, and I couldn't be happier. Brutal, ultra-violent, hyper-kinetic and able to make the adrenaline go into circulation as it had not happened to me for a long time. The gameplay is built on the solid piles of its previous ones more than twenty years ago, suitably aging with elements now indispensable in 2016, but still intimately connected to a really inspired level design, and that traces a new path for the FPS genre.

I didn't expect anything different, given hearts of stone's performance, but The Witcher 3: Blood & Wine is so wide and well done that it looks like a giant trolling to the triple-A system. After the generous free DLCs, the exceptional story of the first paid DLC, the addition of NG+ and a lot of technical optimizations, Blood & Wine exploits and amplifies Geralt's power at the highest levels – from 34 onwards – and blows it up on a gigantic, colorful and varied scenario, with the addition of special equipment and deflagrant mutagenic talents.

8.2 / 10.0 - Overwatch
May 31, 2016

Suming up such a title is complicated. Overwatch betrays its "evolving" product nature a bit and it is evident, although blizzard's boys will never admit it, that it was initially conceived as a free to play product, and then changed clothes during the work. At the moment we have in our hands a damn funny video game – and it does not rain on us on this – regardless of the platform in your possession.

Were all the remastered so beautiful, we would be truly happy. Odin Spere: Leifthrasir, beyond being unpronounceable, improves the original in every possible way, from the combat system to the graphics. The result is simply breathtaking, perfect for newcomers as well as for fans of the original.

9.3 / 10.0 - INSIDE
Jul 7, 2016

You have to be in the right soul to play Inside. It takes a good breath before the dive, the silence and the predisposition not to ask too many questions about what will happen around our fearful protagonist. As was the case in Limbo, here too we are facing a journey to freedom and it is inevitable to see immediately the points of contact between the two games; however, step by step the similarities thin and Inside's identity emerges in all its arrogance, until it sublimates in the final lysegic.

Legion is what every World of Warcraft player have been waiting for a long, long time. The new Demon Hunter is a well-received addition, the gameplay is still the same as twelve years ago but at the same time is different, and better than ever. With its epic scope, this is probably the best expansion ever released for WoW.

8.7 / 10.0 - Gears of War 4
Oct 10, 2016

Gears of War 4 is exactly what any fan of the series expects to play. with shootings, violence, bullets and tons of butchered locust meat. If you are expecting news, then turn away. If, on the other hand, you love that macabre and satisfying dance made of kills and cover ups, the title of The Coalition will thrill and satisfy you from start to finish, both in single and multiplayer. Embrace the lancers gentlemen: back to war!

9 / 10.0 - Rez Infinite
Oct 19, 2016

I am convinced, thanks to REZ Infinite and PlayStation VR, that I finally tried the real REZ, that is, what Tetsuya Mizuguchi had in his head as a "giappomatto" when he poured the 250 MB of data (about) that made up the first version of the game on the disc for PlayStation 2. It's a title that can also be used on a TV but, believe me, find a Sony helmet at any cost and try it in VR: you won't regret it.

Undoubtedly, the best 4X game so far. Civ VI is a total masterpiece and improves all the aspects of the previous incarnation.

Skyrim has lost none of the original charm, even in the face of a successful porting so from a technical point of view. If you have never dressed as dragon blood, then this Special Edition falls perfectly and offers you dozens, if not hundreds of hours of content, complete with support for mods, even on consoles.

This Ezio Collection won't be the most unmissable remastered ever, but it certainly can't be said that Ubisoft has done a bad job.

7.8 / 10.0 - Tales of Berseria
Jan 23, 2017

Despite an old-gen graphics engine and some balancing issues, Tales of Berseria is an ambitious title, with rock-solid writing and a rather deep gameplay. It could have been bolder, but the new installment in the Tales saga is an enjoyable experience, one that the fans of the saga will definitely love.

8.8 / 10.0 - Nioh
Feb 2, 2017

Nioh may not replace the Dark Souls series in our hearts, but it definitely has built a place for itself. Technically a little rough, still without PvP, this new title from Team Ninja could have provided more diversified scenarios, but it sure offers an excellent combat system and a wide and deep offering.

Horizon Zero Dawn is an instant classic: tough, challenging, huge, incredibly fun to play. It's the new definition of the videogame in the most classical way, where the center of the experience is the genuine entertainment of the player. There are some minor flaws here and there, and the narrative isn't as strong as it could've been, but nonetheless, it's the best action game of this generation.
