ActionTrip's Reviews

There are quite a few things that make The Walking Dead: Michonne worth the fifteen dollar investment. The solid narrative and always interesting characters provide a fantastic backdrop to further flesh out the world, post-outbreak.

9.3 / 10.0 - Ratchet & Clank
Apr 29, 2016

But how can a movie let you control the action, experience the thrill of destroying wave after wave of minions or dance to the music of a disco ball appearing in the middle of a battlefield? Stick with the game and tell your own tales. Then go see the movie. Remember, every hero's origin story gets a reboot and refresh from time to time.

8.3 / 10.0 - The Banner Saga 2
Apr 20, 2016

Nonetheless, the slick design and solid gameplay really makes the game enjoyable both as a lovely 2D adventure and a turn-based strategy. As far as storytelling goes, The Banner Saga 2 provides an amazing and unpredictable ride that hinges on decision-making that can often drive you insane.

6.5 / 10.0 - Loud on Planet X
Apr 20, 2016

As an independently produced rhythm game, LOUD on Planet X, succeeds at everything it sets out to do. It is an interesting perspective to approach the genre that is complimented by a very strong soundtrack.

Each path takes about 30-45 minutes to complete (depending upon how powerful Reynardo has become), which makes it all too easy to fall into the trap of trying one more path before closing up the game for the night. Even if you do play the game extremely efficiently to get to the end, you'll still absolutely get your $15 worth of the game.

9 / 10.0 - DiRT Rally
Apr 18, 2016

Dirt Rally can rightfully claim the throne of rally racers in 2016, assuming something doesn't beat the game to it. At this point, we can freely claim that Codemasters have outdone themselves and have finally come back to splendid form, giving us a racer worthy of both Dirt and the legendary CMR series.

8.6 / 10.0 - Samorost 3
Apr 14, 2016

Samorost 3 is a work of art, I like to think. Right from the first challenge I fell in love with the game and I enjoyed how the world is presented. Take my word for it, some of the wacky creature designs are sure to bring a smile on your face.

9.1 / 10.0 - Dark Souls III
Apr 8, 2016

Dark Souls 3 is a never-ending maze, filled with brilliant secrets, dark perils and wonderful treasures. Bear in mind that losing yourself in such a world has its price and that price is endurance. It can get frustrating to the core, but facing up to the challenge feels grand.

8.8 / 10.0 - Enter the Gungeon
Apr 5, 2016

Enter the Gungeon is one of the most entertaining pixelated rogue-like shooters I played in recent times. It can lure even those who are not particularly keen on the genre. Great work, guys.

8.8 / 10.0 - MLB 16: The Show
Apr 5, 2016

It is nice to see that the team over at Sony San Diego has been given enough rope to try new things. The resulting product has once again shown why the MLB The Show series is still one of the best sport simulations in the industry.

8.4 / 10.0 - Quantum Break
Apr 1, 2016

Remedy has, without a doubt, crafted a very creative title with Quantum Break. It's not going to be the killer exclusive game that so many were looking for with the Xbox One, but it's definitely been worth the wait. Story gamers will especially delight in replaying the game multiple times to see the various episodes and experience the different paths the game itself can take. For anyone with an Xbox One, Quantum Break is a must-own.

6.5 / 10.0 - ADR1FT
Mar 30, 2016

The sense of awe only lasts for so long and eventually gives way to the tedium that comes from padding the length of a campaign through relatively repetitive missions and challenges. It is hard to shake the feeling that this could have been something special, at least in concept, that ultimately failed executing on its overall promise. Unless you have a VR headset that you are looking to justify, you may want to skip this rescue mission.

7.8 / 10.0 - EA Sports UFC 2
Mar 28, 2016

Charles Darwin would be a big fan of UFC 2. This isn’t just because of the natural selection angle of the combat, where the only the strongest and smartest survive, but rather because this is the most natural evolution of MMA games as a whole. There is certainly plenty of room for continued improvement in the future, but it is still far and away the best take on the sport to date. Those who have already found themselves smitten with the series will find plenty to enjoy the second time around.

7.3 / 10.0 - The Guest
Mar 17, 2016

The Guest does drive that mansion-horror vibe quite well, but by the end, you can’t help but feel like you missed something crucial, like Leonov’s past perhaps. I’m really looking for any reason why he’d suddenly seem totes okay with being kidnapped, when the rest of the game makes it seem like he’d definitely not.

Despite having a substantial batch of non-career modes, a deep roster of vehicles, and a substantial collection of maps, Sebastien Loeb Rally EVO seems to disregard a couple of the key pillars of the racing sim genre. It doesn't matter how many different ways you can play a game, if its handling and physics cannot be depended upon to produce consistently realistic results.

With all of the content packed in at launch, the solid gameplay mechanics, tactical co-op experience, and gorgeous open world, it was more than a great idea for Ubisoft to delay Tom Clancy's Division as long as they did. Everything about this game was far more than I could have expected, and it's definitely worth the wait. And this is only the beginning, as we still have a year of post-launch content, both free and paid, to keep players diving back in for that looter-shooter glory.

Hitman Intro Pack will cost you $15, with each upcoming location carrying the retail price of $10. Time will tell if this is a good business model. However, from what we can tell at the moment, a majority of users aren't quite happy with having yet another triple-A game that's chopped up and essentially being delivered one bit at a time.

8.9 / 10.0 - Heaven's Hope
Mar 8, 2016

While there have certainly been quite a number of point-and-click adventures proliferating the Steam Store, Heaven's Hope is one that should remain on the radar for all adventure fans. The humor, charming visuals, brain teasing puzzles, and deep spin on religion and zealots are simply fantastic and not to be missed. As you can tell, I personally cannot recommend it enough.

7 / 10.0 - Layers of Fear
Mar 4, 2016

Despite the abundance of clichés, you can see that a lot of effort went into setting the right tone and atmosphere. There are some downright mind-blowing scenes and unique uses of audio and color. Great work on that front. Although do try a bit harder next time, because you guys definitely have something going here.

If you are already an Xbox One owner, it would be nigh impossible to make the argument for buying the game on PC instead of on the console. Make no mistake: this is a buggier and less convenient way to consume something that was designed exclusively with the console in mind.
