Orwell takes place in a country called the Nation, led by a modern-day authoritarian government known as The Party in the capital of Bonton. In 2012, the Party passed the Safety Bill, a law expanding the government’s ability to spy on its citizens in the name of national security. As part of the bill the Ministry of Security, led by Secretary of Security Catherine Delacroix, commissioned a covert surveillance system code named Demiurge (later renamed Orwell). Orwell allows investigations into the private communications of people of interest, but doesn’t allow any one person full access. Instead, Orwell’s operation is run by two groups; Investigators, persons outside of the Nation working for the government who search through the communication of target persons and upload items of interest (represented as “datachunks”), and Advisors, people inside of the Nation who use the received datachunks to determine the course of action and to recommend actions to the authorities.
Tight controls, slick visuals, and unique additions to traditional fighting games make Injustice 2 an easy game to recommend, even if you are not deeply knowledgeable about the DC comic universe.
I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with Linelight and think it is a must-play for puzzle game fans. It is relaxing, rewarding and well worth your time.
I am not sure when it happened, but at some point, it seems “walking simulator” became a pejorative. As a result, you do not have to look far to find a message board or discussion about renaming the genre to something more representative of what happens in the game: First-Person Experience/Exploration, Interactive Story Adventure, First Person Narrative, and the list goes on and on. It’s accurate you do more than walk in these games, but I do not mind calling the walking simulators…because I tend to like the genre. I enjoyed Firewatch, and Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture, and because of my experience with The Unfinished Swan finding out the folks at Giant Sparrow were making a walking sim had me intrigued. That interest was paid back multiple times over.
A great video game that delivers on style and gameplay, has broad appeal, and it's available at a great price - What more do you want? These types of games are perfect for portable, on the go play sessions and it looks wonderful on the big screen TV as well. If you have a Nintendo Switch, buy this game. If you don’t have a Switch, put it on your wishlist for when it arrives on a console near you.
Most of the PSVG crew have opted to not try Ever Oasis in favor of Miitopia later this month. I am the exception to the rule and downright ecstatic to be so. The past few weeks have been spent beating story mode (within a week's time) and chipping away to satisfy my urge to complete all quests imaginable. That's right, the 100% run. When I dove into this game, I knew it would be a matter of boosting your oasis and gaining residents, but I had no idea how obsessive collecting the whole roster of residents would be.
The game — really a visual novel with light puzzle-solving elements through text — was released recently on the Switch, after coming out last year on Steam. It’s a short story from Mike Bithell, the creator behind Thomas Was Alone and Volume.

It’s the third round of a tight match-up in ARMS. My Ribbon Girl’s life meter is dwindling away, dropping close to the 25-percent mark after my opponent — a particularly adept Kid Cobra — catches me with a throw. Ribbon Girl shakes it off and charges up her ARMS. She’s rocking two standard boxing gloves right now, one with the ice power and one with electricity. Jump. Air-dodge. Jump again. Let the electric glove fly, and it connects! She throws a paralyzed Kid Cobra to the ground, and now both competitors’ special meters are filled.
Battleborn is a ton of fun to play, and is unabashedly a Gearbox game, in visuals, moment-to-moment gameplay and humor. Much of the PSVG team has been playing it recently, and we have largely given it our seal of approval.
Well worth the small price of admission if you like stories

There’s nothing quite like it (especially on a 3DS) and for that reason it was easy to keep coming back. Missions are ideal for portable play and in my time with the game, the affinity for Steamworld Heist grew larger with each mission passed. My only real faults with Steamworld Heist is I find movement overall too slow and the game does become repetitive by the end of the campaign.
Hyrule Warriors is a fast-paced, button masher action game with a great collection of characters, splendid looking arenas and a neat Zelda-fan-festival story to draw from. The idea of a Zelda action game or a Warriors skinned Zelda game sounds cheap, but after these two ingredients are baked together, the result is one tasty cake.
Gears 4 serves as a worthy reboot even if it doesn't expand on the status quo. Technically the game is sound & offers more than enough value, but it doesn't advance the story or the recipe enough to warrant admiration to say its one of the best in series.
The gameplay is fast-paced, exciting, difficult and just plain fun. Seraph is pure gameplay at its best, and is absolutely worth playing.
Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia launched on 3DS here in America back on May 19th. The latest entry into the Fire Emblem Series is actually a full remake / re-imagining (whatever you prefer to call it) of Fire Emblem Gaiden. Gaiden was released back in 1992 on the Famicom (Japanese NES) and the game was only available in Japan until 2009 when the game was released on the Wii Virtual console albeit still only in Japan.
I had already pre-ordered the collectors edition of Monster Hunter World a few months ago. I was more or less excited for it I mean you know me, collectibles are kind of my thing! I was also lucky enough to get a two-fer! Dragon Ball Z Fighters also came out same day and I had pre-ordered the collectors of that. The collectors edition was not up to my standards and was kind of upsetting just from the stand point of what I got but that is a topic for another story. So on launch day I opened up the box, put the game in, and began downloading. A few minutes later (thank you Spectrum and Xbox) I was in game running around searching for meaning. 25 hours later I am comfortable giving my initial impressions and a score that will change as I get farther in game. Lets dive into the Good, Bad, and the Ugly.
Straight to the point, I have two vital things I need to start off with this review: 1.) As I’m typing this, I want to play even more of this game. 2.) If you love The Legend of Zelda: A Link To The Past, you should have bought this game yesterday.
