A TERRIBLE PUN (THAT’S ME!)
7 / 10 - Gal*Gun 2
Apr 26, 2018

All in all, the game has its quirks and letdowns plus the sexual themes that could probably pique your interest or simply make you walk away. With a decent story to boot it up, it’s one of those dating games that felt a little more interesting especially that it has a full 3D world at which you can look around and a few things like books, pencils, balls or even statues that can be interacted to despite how useless they seem to be within the world. Definitely not the best story but it works.

6 / 10 - Tower of Time
Apr 25, 2018

Overall, Tower of Time gets a 6/10. If you’re a fan of atmospheric and slow RPGs you may find some enjoyment in its systems and game design choices. Traversal feels slow and boring, with plenty of fights feeling unrewarding.

Overall Fear Effect Sedna gets a 4/10, it is fun in some areas with in-depth and difficult puzzles. Combat becomes too annoying in the later sections with party management becoming a hassle due to the mechanics. You cannot customise your character enough, or even stick to a certain playstyle as the game will swap between sneaking, action and puzzles.

The Silver Case, besides being weird as hell, is a solid visual novel game. The story works well despite its division into three campaigns and if you can struggle through the puzzles you’ll find an enjoyable experience for any Suda51 fan. Just be prepared for crazy.

But this doesn’t detract from the game’s good qualities, and soon you’ll be beating your way through all manner of foes and enjoying yourself immensely. That is what Penny Punching Princess does well, making you enjoy your small jaunts with it. It is definitely a game I will be recommending on Switch, and one I think anybody who buys it will have an enjoyable time with and get their money’s worth.

In conclusion, Masters of Anima is an excellent experience which mixes Diablo and Pikmin excellently. I wonder why so few developers have attempted this before, as it’s so incredibly fun to play. A world full of charm, a bumbling, comedic protagonist and incredibly fun and interesting mechanics make this a must-try for Pikmin or RTS fans looking for a new style to try.

Pure Farming 2018 is a much-needed combatant to the ever-popular Farming Simulator most people are used to. It is always nice to see someone take a risk and come out with a title when only one other game of this genre has been dominating for so long.

7 / 10 - Far Cry 5
Apr 18, 2018

Overall Far Cry 5 gets a 7/10, it feels like it has taken away many points that made the series so fun and immersive in the past. Gunplay is still fun, with plenty of options for your arms, but with the new skill system, it does force you outside of your preferred gameplay style more than once.

4 / 10 - Extinction
Apr 18, 2018

Overall, Extinction gets a 4/10, it is a good attempt at trying something new in gaming, but sadly that something new is picked from a monopolised genre of titans. Gameplay is chunky, the soundtrack is samey, levels are repetitive alongside the combat with skill progression feeling unrewarding.

But as far as worthiness in the price tag and considering that others have already owned the base game or what others prefer to call it as the vanilla version. I have to say it’s still worth it just for the kind of fun you get from playing around with the new battle mechanics along with the rare items you can get from doing the challenges or crafting.

8 / 10 - Solo
Apr 17, 2018

It’s hard to give a game like Solo a definitive score; sure, I can critique things like the presentation (which is masterful) and the gameplay (which is pretty good but I wouldn’t say masterful), but what you actually get out of the game is entirely up to you. How willing are you to be honest with yourself about your feelings?

A TERRIBLE PUN (THAT’S ME!)
Apr 16, 2018

So with all that in mind, did the game served its purpose or did I just waste my time trying it out? It’s both actually! It served its purpose by thoroughly entertaining the heck out of me and the kids while also a waste of time just because I saw myself dying a few times while learning the game and how to beat certain types of enemies. And it’s a waste because I end up wasting my hard earned gold and silver coins spending on the toys of legend for every death whether it’s because I ran out of time and had to face the boss or just because I enter what I like to call the idiot-zone and go “kamikaze” as I rush through hordes of enemies and spamming the attack button.

The Longest Five Minutes is an extremely interesting experience which mixes an engaging story with classic gameplay; even if it does lose a little player engagement due to this. The characters are deep and engaging, with rewarding relationships between them to be explored. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with it and have decided to score it accordingly, but I simply cannot recommend buying it from the UK Nintendo Eshop at this time due to the overpricing in comparison to other versions.

A TERRIBLE PUN (THAT’S ME!)
7 / 10 - Octahedron
Apr 15, 2018

All in all, it’s a fairly simple game with mechanics that works well enough as long as you don’t have two left thumbs and trigger fingers because coordination is one of the key aspects to learning this simple yet unique game.

8 / 10 - Minit
Apr 15, 2018

Minit is a game that is hard to place. You want to like it for its cute idea and fun cast of characters but at the same time you are too busy throwing your controller at the wall because you are dying all the time just from exploring. This was a great idea on paper but I just don’t think it transferred well in digital form.

8 / 10 - Warp Shift
Apr 12, 2018

Warp Shift is great. I enjoyed almost every aspect of it. It wasn’t too short and it wasn’t too long. There was no pure frustration over the mazes and I could plot out my solution with ease. I am so glad they incorporated a story into this game because I feel like most puzzle games gloss over a need for that. This game is a great addition to the Nintendo Switch library but you can also pick it up on iOS and Android if you prefer it on those platforms.

The Witch and the Hundred Knights 2 was very enjoyable from the beginning. Be worried that with this type of game you’ll have to do a considerable amount of reading but that personally didn’t put me off, I loved hundred knight and I loved the hack and slash feel the game had.

Overall Urban Trials: Playground is an excellent addition to the Switch’s library, providing a different style of gameplay. It functionally emulates the feeling of it’s forbearers, and whilst there are many areas for improvement I can’t deny I had a blast taking this on the move.

A Terrible Pun (that’s me!)

To set this to a close, the game itself is noteworthy with its well-written dialogue and the vast amount of story scenes present in the game. Characters are unforgettable although a bit of a Japanese cliché at this point. While the battle mechanics is pretty standard, the fact that the game is more focused on synthesizing makes up for it. Japanese voice overs is spot on and I can’t find any fault at it considering I’ve been a fan of Japanese anime for quite some time now. With the rare typographical errors creeping in here and there which can be forgiven.

Overall, Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom gets a 9/10, improving on the prequel, adding in new mechanics and everything makes this on par, if not better, than the first game. Overused voice cues can feel grating at times, alongside some mechanics taking too long are some aspects that do bring the game down a bit.
