8 / 10.0 - Orbitals
Sep 1, 2026

Orbitals is a thoroughly enjoyable co-op adventure which, rather than constantly bombarding players with new mechanics, places greater emphasis on puzzles, communication and working together to find solutions. The gameplay is simpler and less varied than in It Takes Two or Split Fiction, but the ability to swap roles freely, the brilliant world design and the inventive use of the available tools mean that two players can have a really good time together. It’s just a shame that the adventure ends so quickly and doesn’t offer much in the way of replay value, as Shapefarm has created a very solid offering for fans of co-op games.

Young people sometimes use the term ‘bangier’. It suits Onimusha: Way of the Sword perfectly. It’s the very essence of a video game and exactly what I expect from this form of entertainment.

The Blood of Dawnwalker is an excellent start to a new universe, one that draws on the experience of the creators of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, but which, thanks to the 30-day system, Coen’s transformation and the consequences of your decisions, quickly finds its own identity. The game’s greatest strengths are its superbly written quests, interesting characters and a world you’ll want to return to in order to experience completely different versions of events. The underdeveloped combat and technical issues can be irritating, but they do not detract from the fact that Rebel Wolves has created a large, ambitious RPG that is well worth checking out.

A brilliant turn-based, tactical game set in the Star Wars universe. Perfect for fans of the franchise, and thanks to its many features, it’s excellent even for those who aren’t particularly familiar with this genre of games.

Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy isn’t just a breath of fresh air for the series, demonstrating that it isn’t only dark stories set against a backdrop of real events that can be engaging. This game had all the makings of being the best instalment in the series and a worthy successor to Uncharted or Tomb Raider. However, although some of the shortcomings of its predecessors have been addressed, ultimately not everything went to plan; but given that this was something of an experiment, one can hope that for the franchise and its creators, this will be just the first of many successes to come.

Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition is an excellent port of one of the best games of recent years, which, despite its massive scale, runs and looks surprisingly well on the Nintendo Switch 2. FromSoftware has made excellent use of the extra time to optimise the game, meaning we can now comfortably explore the Lands Between virtually anywhere. If you have a Switch 2, Elden Ring isn’t just worth playing – it’s a must-play.

Gameplay on the Hell Let Loose Vietnam maps is only just getting underway, but the changes and new features introduced to the game show that the series is heading in the right direction. Fans of the first game should be pleased. However, it is still not a game for those who are used to the pace and dynamics of the most popular multiplayer shooters (which, to be honest, is by no means a drawback).

Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 really stands out thanks to Guns of the Patriots. The rest are really just curiosities. Peace Walker has its moments, but after Phantom Pain it won’t surprise anyone. The rest is just cosmetic tweaks and nostalgia. Boxed editions are becoming a thing of the past, so buy them whilst they’re still affordable.

What looks excellent on paper doesn't always translate well into the final product. The atmosphere and world-building of *Beast of Reincarnation* carry the rest of the experience, but that alone isn't enough to elevate the title to the ranks of truly great productions.

Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls is a striking, very accessible (at first), and incredibly deep fighting game that brilliantly utilizes Marvel's heroes and Arc System Works' expertise. The stunning visuals, excellent 4v4 system, and wide variety of fighters provide plenty of fun, though the campaign could be longer, the roster larger, and the selection of modes even more extensive. However, the foundation is strong enough that with the right support, the game could sustain an active community for a long time.

Kusan: City of Wolves is a spectacular, brutal and challenging top-down shooter that pleasantly surprises not only with its combat, but also with its dark world and well-crafted story. It’s a very good game for players who enjoy a challenge and beating their own high scores, but its unforgiving nature and limited variety mean it won’t be to everyone’s taste.

Halo: Campaign Evolved marks a very successful return for the Master Chief, combining superb gunplay, a brilliant atmosphere and spectacular visuals with sensibly implemented changes. At times, the remake remains a little too conservative, and the lack of multiplayer clearly limits its content, but the campaign itself still delivers a brilliant, challenging experience. It’s a cracking shooter, and let’s hope it marks the start of a new chapter for both the Halo franchise and Xbox.

8 / 10.0 - Splatoon Raiders
Jul 21, 2026

Splatoon Raiders proves that the world of Splatoon works just as well outside of online competition. Nintendo has created an incredibly satisfying action game with very well-designed progression, although it lacks greater mission variety and a more engaging story. If you enjoy fast-paced combat, character progression and the distinctive atmosphere of this series, the Japanese developers’ latest release should provide you with plenty of fun.

Granblue Fantasy: Relink – Endless Ragnarok is a truly well-crafted Expanded Edition of the highly sought-after JRPG released almost two years ago. Admittedly, the emphasis on the story isn’t particularly strong here, but fans of pure action and epic battles against gigantic beasts, all set against a backdrop of phenomenal anime graphics, certainly won’t need much persuading to give this new game a go.

The call of adventure on an island plagued by Lovecraftian cosmic horror? Sounds tempting. However, after a few hours, you’ll get the feeling that you’ve already seen everything this game has to offer. For the brave.

A tram instead of a skateboard, in Japanese style. The dizzying speed and powerful gameplay make this game impossible to miss.

DOOM: The Dark Ages | Revelations doesn’t just add new missions. The Chain Lance brings back the speed and verticality familiar from Eternal, without detracting from the Slayer’s sheer power seen in the main campaign. Unfortunately, in my opinion, the storyline has its weaker moments. Fortunately, the occasionally limited variety of some locations doesn’t detract from the fact that this is a meaty, challenging and superbly designed expansion. I recommend it.

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is simply a decent game, but – in my opinion – it lacks that certain something found in the latest instalments of the series. The changes to both land and sea combat make for a brilliant experience in the first dozen or so hours of play, but ultimately it very quickly becomes rather monotonous.

Fans of Sword Art Online can certainly thank Bandai Namco for rescuing their favourite game series from the dark ages, as for the first time ever we’ve been treated to modern, well-made and beautiful digital adventures featuring Kirito and his friends.

Devil May Cry 5: Devil Hunter Edition is a superbly crafted port of one of Capcom’s finest action games, which works brilliantly on both the large and small screens of the Nintendo Switch 2. A superb combat system, four distinctly different characters, a steady 60 FPS and a wealth of content mean that even years on, returning to Red Grave City is hugely satisfying.
