Unto the End is an action-adventure title where recognizing and learning enemy patterns is crucial to completing the game. You wield a sword and can utilize a torch and a bone dagger to your advantage. As you progress through the game, the character rarely encounters upgrades, and the upgrades unlocked were quality of life improvements. This means that the player will fight more challenging fights without greatly improving the player’s character. Player skill is the most important thing here, and in playing this game, you will die many times before reaching the end.

When it comes to video games, I have genres that I tend to play more than others, such as platformers and fighting games. However, there is a genre that I don’t advertise that I enjoy equally as much as these. Virtual sports games, with Pool being a very firm favourite. The Worms series has been around since 1995, so I’d be surprised if any gaming fan hadn’t heard of those angry anthropomorphic fellows! To sum it up, the series largely revolves around turn-based artillery tactics. Often having to be the last one standing, you use whacky weapons to deplete your opponents’ health. Sheep, Holy Hand Grenades, and more, Worms boasts slapstick humour. It has gone through character design changes, 2D to 3D, and even a mini-golf spin-off!

Nova-Box is back with another of their visual novels to be released for the Nintendo Switch. Visual novels aren’t my cup of tea and it’s not been until recently that I’ve delved into the genre. I previously reviewed Along The Edge and was blown away by both its story and art. With Seers Isle I started with an open mind. But, seeing that it is also developed by Nova-Box I had sudden high expectations.

It’s not very often a video game captures the imagination of everyone in my household. We are a massive board gaming family so that may have helped somewhat, giving the themes of this interesting little Nintendo Switch title. Dicey Dungeons, as the title suggests combines two of the greatest things in gaming; dice and yes you guessed it, dungeons. It feels like someone has definitely been peeking at my Christmas list. With a lot of dice and random dungeons, count me in!

Every developer wants to capitalize on the success of the genre by creating their own take on the intense and extremely difficult style of role-playing game. Chronos: Before the Ashes is yet another one of those soulslike games, but with a developer like Gunfire Games (responsible for some of the Darksiders entries) and a publisher like THQ Nordic, Chronos comes packed with a lot of promise to be something spectacular.

The Remothered series has had quite a troubled and complex history. What started as a 2-D homage to the Clock Tower games was soon scrapped and re-imagined into a more cinematic survival-horror experience. The first title in this new series; Remothered: Tormented Fathers, was a sleeper hit amongst horror fans. Praised for its storytelling and scary atmosphere, it was pretty certain that a sequel would be on the cards.
