A Plague Tale: Innocence took us by surprise as one of the most endearing games so far this year. A linear experience focused on the journey of two brothers through the mud and blood, while they run away from the Inquisition and face the dangers of the Great Plague. With familiar mechanics and a satisfying gameplay through the story, A Plague Tale: Innocence is a great break from the all explosive games in the market.

Mortal Kombat 11 feels like a celebration for this series. 8 / 10 - Days Gone
Apr 25, 2019

Despite a boring start with repetitive missions - that expose most of its technical and narrative problems - , Days Gone is a very special game. I feel like the more I played, the more I wanted to explore the dangerous world it has to offer and the more I wanted to follow Deacon's emotional journey.

Yoshi’s Crafted World is a very self-aware and adorable game thanks to its impressive visuals and aesthetics. Simple and full of little surprises, it represents what Nintendo does best for the younger public in platform games with easy to play mechanics.

The Messenger is a nostalgic bomb and a very solid action platformer. If you love Ninja Gaiden and Mega Man, and you want a new, yet friendlier experience in the genre, this is the game you’re looking for.

With Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, FromSoftware stands tall when it comes to truly challenging games with strong storytelling and great action. With the fastest, ruthless and extremely satisfying gameplay yet, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is also a great starting point for newcomers of this genre, thanks to some design choices and simplified progression mechanics.

6 / 10 - City of Brass
Mar 13, 2019

Despite its promises, City of Brass is an ideal game to buy on sale, where the fun will surely be measurable with your investment. It's a shame, but with the Switch building a stronger catalog every year, the competition is fierce and City of Brass doesn’t have what it takes to be a must buy game on Nintendo’s console.

10 / 10 - Devil May Cry 5
Mar 6, 2019

Devil May Cry 5 looks, plays and sounds as pitch-perfect as its bombastic soundtrack. It nails pretty much everything in every department. The combat is super satisfying, with a deep list of skills, abilities and attacks; the story is cheesy but engaging and full of twists; and it is one of the most visually impressive games of this year so far.

Codemasters is back at it again. After an almost experiment in a dedicated simulation game, DiRT Rally 2.0 stands on its own as a great spin-off game from the more arcade DiRT series. Every turn feels dangerous and every second counts, DiRT Rally 2.0 is authentic and visceral, but only for the most enthusiastic players.

7 / 10 - Metro Exodus
Feb 27, 2019

With more open spaces to explore and out of the claustrophobic ruins of Moscow, Metro Exodus goes into an interesting direction showing a classic post-apocalyptic world more familiar to the fans of this genre. Flawed but charming, Artyom’s journey is full of emotions and action packed, in a well-paced game that has almost everything a Metro game should have.

It is, without surprises, survival horror in its pure state. The remake of Resident Evil 2 is everything the fans would hope for a current-gen RE. It takes all the core concepts of the original and twists them with a new fresh take and some mechanics from the also excellent Resident Evil 7. Lots of jump scares, great action, stunning visuals and a lot of content to explore and replay.

Nintendo Switch received the definitive Super Smash Bros. experience. Ultimate it’s quite literally the final form of this franchise with every character, every level and with deep mechanics, striking visuals, an absurd amount of game modes and all the fun of the previous games. After 20 years, this Nintendo mega-mashup still feels fresh.

8 / 10 - The Forest
Nov 20, 2018

The Forest is an excellent survival game that bridges the gap on the PS4. With the genre's popularity on the PC, it's always good to see titles like this one finally coming to the consoles and giving gamers an experience unlike anything else. The Forest is addictive, scary and very complete and if you have always wanted to survive on an island full of cannibals, then this is your chance.

5 / 10 - Fallout 76
Nov 20, 2018

Fallout 76 is the answer to a question that now would be great if unanswered: “What if Fallout but with multiplayer?” Unfortunately, this experience is a broken mess, full of technical problems, lack of direction, boring and repetitive quests, and some archaic design choices that don’t work very well in a shared environment.

10 / 10 - Forza Horizon 4
Sep 24, 2018

The most ambitious and risk taking Forza game yet. Built upon the previous game, Forza Horizon 4 take us to a virtual Britain and explores the concept of Games as Service with a dynamic and surprising racing game that never looks the same every time we play it. It’s beautiful, plays fantastic and it has one of the most complete and beautiful garages in the world.

More focused on exploration and mystery, Shadow of the Tomb Raider encapsulate all the elements of the previous games in this reboot series and some of the oldest games too, but it presents a dull story with predictable twists that takes itself too seriously.

Dragon Quest XI is not an RPG for everyone. It's a game that lives on its legacy and refuses to evolve with the genre, preferring to slow down its gameplay rather than completely transform it. If turn-based combat isn't your thing, Dragon Quest XI won't change your mind, but if you want a great RPG, with a charisma rarely found in the genre, and explore one of the most vibrant worlds we find on consoles, this is the game for you.
